Job summary

As a specialist paediatric Occupational Therapist (OT) you will be an experienced, autonomous practitioner who is able to work in a range of settings to provide a high quality paediatric occupational therapy service. The post holder will have experience of working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to support children and young peoples occupational therapy needs and they will be experienced in providing specialist advice to other disciplines.

The Occupational Therapist will carry a specialist caseload of children and young people with a variety of complex physical, learning and social needs and be responsible for writing reports for Education Health Care Plans (EHCP) and multidisciplinary assessments/reviews.

Main duties of the job

In our local Special Schools who provide an outstanding education service supporting children and young people aged 4 25 years who have a range of severe and complex physical and learning disabilities,

Our local Specialist Resource Provisions based across both Kingston and Richmond boroughs supporting children and young people aged 4 11 years with social communication difficulties, Autism Spectrum

Disorders and other neurodevelopmental conditions.

Job responsibilities

Significant experience of clinical assessment and intervention as an autonomous occupational therapist using standardised and non standardised assessment tools Knowledge of current best practice in paediatric OT and evidence of its application in assessment planning, implementing and evaluating treatment Ability to plan and prioritise own workload and work independently Excellent skills in preparing clearly written reports for use by multiple agencies Able to communicate sensitive, information to families with empathy Able to reflect and critically appraise own performance Excellent skills in planning and delivering training sessions for teachers, parents, carers and colleagues
