Teaching Personnel are working with a Special School in the Handsworth area, a specialist provision supporting pupils aged 4-16 with a diagnosis of Autism. All pupils have an Education, Health, and Care Plan. The school continually assesses its learning environment to ensure it is as Autism Friendly as possible. Support and teaching staff work together to create a Healthy, fun and learning environment.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous school experience is desirable.
  • If you have experience as a Support Worker, Healthcare Worker, Behaviour Mentor, or in a similar role with transferable skills, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervision: Ensuring the safety of pupils with SEND, including before and after school, and during breaks.
  • Educational Support: Assisting in delivering personalized learning plans.
  • Behaviour Management: Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging pupils to take responsibility for their actions.
  • Resource Preparation: Preparing and maintaining learning resources and assisting pupils in using them effectively.
  • Relationship Building: Fostering trusting relationships with pupils and promoting inclusion and acceptance.

Requirements:

  • Solid understanding of Special Education Needs, including autism, speech and language disorders, moderate to severe learning difficulties, and associated behavioural challenges.
  • Commitment to building positive relationships with pupils and understanding their needs.
  • Ability to provide individual reassurance and support with learning tasks.
  • Adaptability and empathy to handle complex and sensitive issues.
  • Confidence in evaluating learning needs and actively seeking new teaching methods.
  • Comprehensive understanding of child development and learning.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
