Behaviour Support Assistant

A primary pupil refferal unit in Leyland are recruiting for specialist behaviour support assistants to provide geneuine, quality care and support to its pupils.

An SEN school in Leyland require behaviour Support Assistants ideally starting full-time as soon as possible. The school caters for students aged 4-11 with varying additional needs including ASC and SEMH. The school are looking to recruit on a temporary basis with a view to move onto a school contract later in the academic year.

To be successful, experience supporting children/ young adults with additional needs is essential. Ideally this would be an educational setting however the school are keen to consider individuals with experience in support work, care, residential, youth work, prisons, sports coaching etc The school are open to various experience and try and recruit based on the unique skills a candidate can bring to the roles, giving their pupils exposure to new experiences. Team Teach training is desirable however not essential with the position.

The role

As a behaviour mentor your role is to work in small group or 1:1 session with pupils. These pupils all have SEMH additional needs and will have an EHC plan in place to support the learning and needs. You will have to adhere to their EHC plan and differentiate your approach to meet each individual pupils needs, meaning you will need to know your pupils well enough to establish a trusting relationship based on respect, providing them with a safe environment to learn and build confidence, while knowing your pupils’ triggers and routines.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
