The successful post holder will be responsible for ensuring junior doctor rotas are managed and support the Patient Service Managers and Assistant Patient Service Managers in ensuring safe and effective cover is provided to all wards.

Main duties of the job

Job description

Job responsibilities

Work collaboratively with the services withinthe Division of Surgery to facilitate the operational coordination of medicalstaff Trust wide for the Division of Surgery.Lead on the preparation andcirculation of medical weekly activity rosters, ensuring all clinical areashave appropriate medical cover. Act as a point ofcontact for daily operational medical staffing queries coming into the Divisionof Surgery and work collaboratively to resolve any issues arising. Support PatientService Managers to ensure resources are utilised effectively and efficientlyto facilitate patient safety. Manage the oversightand reporting of data pertaining to study leave, annual leave, sickness leavefor Consultants, Medical and Junior staff, notifying the Patient ServiceManagers and other appropriate colleagues as necessary. To utilise thee-rostering system and other medical staffing systems to ensure policycompliance and to support full-service provision at all times. Liaising with Consultants, medical directorate and managersabout medical staffing issues, requirements and problems and working towardssolutions. To support the Patient Service Manager in ensuring valuefor money and quality of service with regards to locum bookings. Manage sensitiveissues both over the telephone and face to face with regard to staff and Trustinformation ensuring confidentiality at all levels is maintained. Lead and develop thelocal induction for junior doctors, registrars and locums within the division. Review andescalate medical staffing compliance against the European Working TimeDirective (EWTD) and appropriate contractual mechanisms. Seeking guidance and advice from the MedicalStaffing team as appropriate. Ability to manageand lead on project work as allocated by the Patient Service Manager. Person Specification

Experience of working with directors and clinical teams Experience of producing reports and collating data to support performance monitoring Sound understanding of management processes and procedures

Experience of working in an operational management setting. Experience of working in a complex hospital environment Experience of using rota/management information systems, preferably e-rostering and/or ESR.
