System Lead

JOB PURPOSE The System Lead for Workforce Supply will be responsible for facilitating and supporting the expansion of non-medical clinical placements across the health system in Wakefield. The role will coordinate the delivery of five main work areas: 1. Promote multi-professional training placements in community and primary care settings 2. Work with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) and relevant training accreditors to adapt placement models to include primary and community care as placement settings.
3. Standardise training and professional development opportunities for educators to ensure training placements and supervisors are the highest quality and have the skills to deliver safe and effective learning. 4. Work with HEIs and other partners to develop new roles that can work as part of a multi-disciplinary community teams.
This will involve the development of competency frameworks, hosting arrangements, supervision and peer support. 5. Work with schools and local communities to support recruitment and promote careers in health and social care. Specially targeted hyper-local recruitment activity on groups that are currently not properly represented in the Wakefield workforce The post holder will develop strong links with partners from a range of different sectors.
They will have a good understanding of how to support learners. They will have experience of working in a health, social care and/or education settings. The post holder will have excellent communication and organisation skills, with the ability to work autonomously and make links to wider workstreams supporting workforce development. The System Lead for Workforce Supply will ensure effective delivery of student placements across the system and provide assurance that learners complete placements that enable them to practice safely, effectively and with confidence and compassion.
The post holder will be working in collaboration with our People Alliance and support the delivery of priorities within The Wakefield District Health and Care Partnership People Plan. 2. Key Responsibilities The main responsibilities of this post are set out below: Act as the lead for expanding student placements, working with the relevant programme manager and providing leadership to the team Undertake assessment of needs/scoping exercises with key partners and stakeholders in relation to placements and learning activity across the system Work in collaboration with the programme manager to monitor, record and report progress made within each project/activity within the workstream, taking the lead on the reporting and appropriate escalation of key risks and issues which may impact on project/programme success through the relevant governance frameworks. Responsible for carrying out research and development activities to ensure best practice and innovation is embedded across all aspects of the programme and used to inform future developments across the programme of work.
Support day to day operational management of the PMO, supporting team members to achieve their objectives and providing direct line management support (where applicable). To lead the scoping, design, development, and implementation of new processes for the system coordination, management, support and assessment of non-medical undergraduate student placements. Robust assessment and analysis of the current processes including a full review of Wakefield Place on non-medical undergraduate student training. Innovation, design and development of new processes that improve the student experience, increases placement capacity, improves uptake and provides financial efficiencies that can be reinvested into student training.
To lead on the optimisation of placement capacity across Wakefield for all non-medical undergraduate students in line with NHS workforce growth requirements. Work with partners to identify host organisations for student placements. Organise a rotation with district training hubs for each student which may include working in different community settings. Keep an up-to-date database of assessors and supervisors.
