Teaching Personnel are looking for a Learning Support Assistant in a friendly school in north Bristol, serving a diverse community.  They aim high for their students, upholding values like open-mindedness, respect, creativity, and responsibility.

The successful Learning Support team actively helps both colleagues and students, offering vital literacy, numeracy, and social skills support. We seek Learning Support Assistants with strong Maths, English, and ICT skills to support students with additional needs. Ideal candidates are empathetic, proactive, and able to maintain good behaviour for learning.

Roles and Responsibilities:

-        Working one to one or with small groups of students.

-        Taking responsibility for interventions.

-        Being able to support some of the schools’ most vulnerable students to engage positively in school.

-        Tending to social, speech and language needs.

-        Becoming a pastoral figure supporting with mental health, learning difficulties and disabilities.

-        Working in class with teachers to support the learning of identified students with additional needs.

-        Engage with any necessary CPD and opportunities to grow to become the best practitioner you can be.

The successful candidate will:

-        Have excellent maths and English skills and competent ICT skills.

-        Be keen to make a difference to young people’s life chances.

-        Listen to young people and find proactive ways through their concerns and difficulties to enable personal development and positive wellbeing.

Who may be good for the position?

-        Graduates who may be considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology, or social work.

-        Somebody looking for experience prior to teacher training.

-        Experienced LSAs who have worked with English and Maths departments.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
