We are looking for a Learning Resource Assistant to join our supportive and talented team at King’s Oak Academy**. **We are a diverse multi-academy trust, looking for professional and ambitious people, with a passion for transforming our students’ learning.

This role is offered on a 30 hours per week basis, Term time only + 5 inset days.

**What we are looking for**:
In this role, the post holder, will work with students on a 1:1 and group level basis supporting them in timetabled reading lessons, with homework and in choosing and borrow books from the library. They will take an active role in library based Accelerated Reader lessons in order to develop strong reading habits and progress alongside the English dept. The post holder will also be responsible for supervising students over break and lunchtimes and promoting reading for pleasure including supporting the AAP for Literacy run the tutor time Reading for Pleasure programme for Years 7-9.

Your duties will specifically include:

- Supporting students and supervising Learning Resource Centre before and after school as well as break and lunchtimes.
- Using the library management system to manage the book collection and book loans. Managing the physical library spaces, ensuring the computers are in working order and taking library bookings.
- Monitoring and maintaining the Accelerated Reader programme to support teachers of English in lessons.
- Working as a member of the whole school reading team, improving the reading ages of all students at the Academy.
- Planning and running library activities such as reading groups and book promotions.

You will be someone who enjoys working with young people and understands the importance of encouraging young people to develop the habit of reading regularly outside of school. Previous experience of working in a school or a library is desirable though not essential.
