The Internal Relations (Communications) Manager works across the full range of DP World business operations, which are sited at a range of locations across the UK. These include ports and terminals at London Gateway and Southampton, contract logistics sites, and our logistics park. The successful candidate will be based at the DP World office in central London, with travel across the UK or elsewhere according to business need. Internal Relations audiences include employees at all levels and encompass all businesses and functions – importantly including frontline workers in non-office environments.


About the Role:

  • Develop and maintain a rolling 3-year Strategy for UK Internal Relations which supports UK business and brand objectives. Defining the roles of Internal Relations activities, including the resources, budgets and competences needed to deliver agreed strategic objectives.
  • Create and manage an annual plan for UK Internal Relations activities which focus on measurable immediate term objectives and KPIs.
  • Drive and monitor effective Execution of the Internal Relations Plan, through clear identification of high-priority deliverables, integration and consistency (‘one voice’). As well as exploitation of global toolkits and shared best practices and policies.
  • Ensure timely and actionable reporting on a dashboard of Measurements which monitor the effectiveness of Internal Relations activities against defined objectives.
  • Ability to respond to unforeseen changes, including short-term opportunities & issues or problems which were not anticipated.
  • Encourage and nurture a culture of innovation designed to test and validate new ideas and approaches. Drawing on specialist experience and learning from the wider external world.
  • Constantly adhere to and actively promote behaviors which reflect the DP World Brand Purpose while specifically maintaining the highest levels of Safety standards.


Your Key Skills:

  • Proven track-record as an experienced practitioner in planning and implementing Internal Relations programs -- ideally, in B2B contexts and with experience in multi-national organisation's.
  • Experience of project management within complex situations and environments is essential, as is the capability to deliver against agreed objectives and targets
  • Strong commercial sense which links internal communications closely with business performance and the development of reputational capital.
  • Specialist expertise in professional Internal Relations techniques and best practices. Key skills include excellent writing, editing and proof-reading skills, with diligence and proactivity in validating facts, as well as the ability to source relevant stories from employees.
  • Significant experience in the use of digital channels and the ability to tell stories in interesting and compelling ways to specific audience segments, using words, images, audio, video.
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of scope of work when necessary.
  • Ideally a driving license, with an access to own car.
