A leading construction contractor founded in 2000, specializing in delivering quality construction solutions across various sectors including commercial fit-out, social housing, education, heritage, public buildings, healthcare, retail, residential, and leisure. The company excels in planned repairs and maintenance, refurbishments, retrofits, and heritage restorations. With a reputation for reliability and high-quality service, the company boasts over 50% of its business from repeat customers.


The Role: In response to market demands and sustainable growth, the company seeks to enhance its pre-construction function by recruiting a new Bid Writer. The Bid Writer will take ownership of bids, challenge business units, and drive operational teams to enhance submissions. This role involves working closely with the Bid Manager and various teams, contributing to new initiatives, and adapting to shifting business needs. The position requires a presence in both main office locations and site visits as necessary.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and manage all aspects of the bid process and deliver presentations in line with the company’s brand and processes.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Lead kick-off workshops and facilitate strategy/solution workshops.
  • Plan and manage bids, including direct report management.
  • Interact with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders throughout tender periods.


Technical Expertise:

  • Proven experience in bidding with the ability to write compelling, compliant content in plain English.
  • Experience Bid Writing in the Built Environment
  • Analyse questions, plan answers, and appreciate the legal and commercial aspects of RFI/PQQ/RFP/ITT content.


Leadership Qualities:

  • Coach, mentor, and appraise colleagues, influence clients and stakeholders, deliver persuasive bids, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Proficient use of Adobe Suite, including InDesign, and project management skills.


Desirable Qualifications:

  • Degree educated, APMP Foundation.
  • Potential for development to management level by influencing stakeholders, understanding strategy, and leading complex bids.


Potential for Development:

  • Manage others, guide stakeholders, broaden bid experience across disciplines/sectors, lead large complex bids independently, and expand professional networks.
