New Business Development Manager

The Role


As a New Business Development Manager, you will identify and develop new business opportunities to generate revenue, improve profitability, and help the business grow. The candidate will be responsible for sales activity within a customer base that spans the NHS, local authorities, education, and commercial sectors. In addition to lighting, you will promote renewable technologies such as solar PV systems, EV chargers, and heat pumps as part of our Net Zero portfolio. We have a fully funded solution (no Capex required) where clients can pay back over flexible terms.


  • Responsible for new customer relationship development to maximize sales opportunities in the areas of LED lighting, Controls, Solar PV, Heat Pumps and EV Charging.
  • Maintain regular customer contact to develop relationships and offer product solutions across lighting and renewable energy
  • Work closely with the team to grow and develop both the UK lighting and renewable energy business across NHS, local authorities, education, and commercial sectors
  • Implement a Strategic Business Plan for each key target sector and develop a sales pipeline, specifically highlighting opportunities for renewable energy solutions such as solar PV installations, electric vehicle infrastructure, and heat pump systems
  • Develop and win new business as well as responding to incoming leads for both energy-efficient lighting and renewable technology solutions
  • Work with the marketing team to help plan & execute sales campaigns
  • Target senior decision makers within target market, building long standing relationships
  • Confident at pitching to from Junior Management to Board Level (with support)
  • Become the main point of contact for all new clients introduced
  • Develop and implement weekly / monthly / quarterly call/activity plans to be able to forecast sales and support management team
  • Maintain company database/customer records to a high level
  • Working towards the consistent achievement of agreed monthly and yearly sales targets (within a combination of new and existing accounts). Hit and exceed set monthly/quarterly/annual targets relating to revenue and growth.


The Ideal Candidate


The ideal candidate should have:


  • Previous experience selling lighting products (ideally LED) and/or renewable technologies (solar PV, EV chargers, heat pumps), with a proven track record of sales delivery and performance
  • Understanding of energy savings and sustainability as key drivers to achieving sales
  • Looking to advance their career within the lighting, renewable energy, and building solutions sector
  • Experience selling to a targeted audience
  • Understanding of energy savings as a key driver to achieving sales
  • Existing customers and previous relationships to bring to the role
  • Results driven, ambitious and highly self-motivated
  • Adaptable and flexible to respond to new opportunities and challenges with vigour and enthusiasm
  • Passionate about winning business and working as an all-round team player
  • Commercially astute, with exceptional communication and relationship building skills
  • Eligible to work and live in the UK
  • Full UK driving licence.
