Business Development Manager – Freight Forwarding (Birmingham)


We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Business Development Manager to join a leading freight forwarding company based in Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity to drive growth in a dynamic, fast-paced industry and play a key role in expanding our client base.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and target new business opportunities within the freight forwarding industry.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with potential and existing clients, understanding their logistics needs.
  • Develop tailored proposals and solutions for clients, ensuring profitability and service excellence.
  • Drive sales through both new business acquisition and upselling to existing clients.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure seamless service delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Present and negotiate commercial contracts and pricing, ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Achieve and exceed sales targets while contributing to the overall growth of the business.
  • Represent the company at industry events, exhibitions, and meetings to enhance brand presence.


Key Skills & Experience:

  • Proven track record in business development or sales, ideally within freight forwarding or logistics.
  • Strong understanding of the freight industry, including air, ocean, and road transport.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and results-focused.
  • Experience in CRM systems and managing sales pipelines.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to develop and implement strategies to drive growth.
