Quality Control Technician - Part Time

Our clients are an R&D company developing purity Cubic Silicon Carbide (SiC3) and Cubic Titanium Carbide (TiC3) ceramic coatings, that can be applied to graphite, ceramics and refractory metal components.

These very high purity coatings are mainly intended for use in the semiconductor and electronics industries, for protecting wafer carriers, susceptors and heating elements from corrosive and reactive environments.

They would like to recruit a talented versatile person with experience of inspection and quality control type roles. The person is as important as the skills as training will be provided so if you think this role is for you then please apply through the companies dedicated recruitment portal.

Part time position, 15 hours per week but this can be mutually agreed. There may be at times a requirement for additional hours to increase throughout or to support other areas of the business.

This is a unique process and full training will be provided for this position which will include interaction in all parts of the business including planning, purchasing, inspection and production. Working individually and as a team to meet agreed production and process maintenance requirements.

Within this role you will be an integral part this team. Your main contacts will be:

  • Lead Process Technician - Direct report, schedule, quality, equipment, training
  • Process Engineer - Quality
  • Admin Coordinator - Quality, stock, goods in inspection

The role is responsible to approve product to be dispatched to customers based on its visible criteria. Where the criteria is not met or is questionable, to place components into quarantine pending review. You will grow to know our client's products, their standards and will progress to be the quality authority for release of product. The inspection process takes place in a cleanroom environment, class 5.

Where visual abnormalities are observed, they can be removed / improved by hand to meet their pass criteria.

To assist in making quality assessments our client use digital microscopes and other visual aids. The output of these assessments are in hardcopy, digital images and recorded in spreadsheets. This requires appropriate filing, ultimately in digital format.

The salary is £13.08/hr (£25,000 pro-rata). Any additional hours will be paid at the same rate.

The standard working week for the company are - Monday to Thursday 8am - 5pm Friday 8am - 2pm.
