Overview


This role is all about providing strategic leadership for bid function, with direct responsibility for overseeing bid responses in the UK (both North and South) and offering support and guidance to bids from their international studios. In this context, UK South also includes some international projects, especially Middle East and Africa (MEA) masterplanning, which are run out of their London office.


At the start, your main focus will be on supporting the UK and MEA bid function, which includes bids for exciting masterplanning opportunities in the Middle East. Over time, this focus may change as the UK bid process becomes more streamlined. The specific goals and KPIs for the role will be agreed upon when you join and reviewed periodically to keep things on track.

This role will also support their ESG/Non-financial reporting efforts, contributing to the development of shared assets that the company uses.


Key Responsibilities


1. Lead Bid Management for the Group


  • Take overall responsibility for bid management, ensuring our responses to RFQs, EOIs, and other business opportunities are on point and aligned with our strategy.
  • Work closely with their international studios, supporting them while ensuring they have what they need to deliver winning bids locally.
  • Develop project plans for each bid, ensuring we stay on track and use our resources effectively.


2. Support Business Development


  • Collaborate with the Business Development team to identify new opportunities that fit our core competencies and business strategy.
  • Use your industry knowledge and contacts to provide insights into upcoming opportunities, keeping us one step ahead.
  • Help manage key accounts by working with account leads across the group and regularly communicating opportunities and strategies to the Senior Management Team.


3. Manage the Bid Team


  • Build and manage a bid team that scales to meet the company’s needs, including handling bid management and design tasks as required.
  • Keep everyone updated by regularly reporting on bid progress by sector and location.
  • Lead the creation and maintenance of important bid assets like qualifications, CVs, policy statements, and other documents, making sure they reflect otheir strengths and are always ready for use.


4. Support ESG/Non-Financial Reporting


  • Play a key role in non-financial reporting, especially ESG materials, for both internal and external use.
  • Work closely with the Global Director of Communications to ensure reports and submissions reflect the company´s commitment to sustainability and governance.


Managing Our Key Assets


  • Work with the Communications Team to understand the company’s strategic direction, key projects, and available marketing materials, making sure they’re tailored to suit different media.
  • Lead the creation and upkeep of bid assets like qualifications, CVs, policy documents, and more, working alongside senior colleagues to keep everything current and high quality.


Skills and Experience we’re Looking for


  • A proven track record of delivering successful bids in construction or a similar industry.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK development and construction industry; international experience is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage projects and keep everything well-documented.
  • Experience in leading and motivating a team to meet deadlines and deliver quality.
  • A good understanding of design and layout processes for bid production.
  • Familiarity with CRM software and other relevant design/admin tools.


Reporting Structure


  • Reports to: Global Director of Communications
  • Manages: Bid Coordinator and pooled graphics support KPIs and Review Process Your initial focus will be on supporting bids in the UK and MEA regions. Once you’re onboard, we’ll set some clear KPIs together, which we’ll review regularly to make sure everything is on track and evolving as needed.
