We are looking for a motivated and team-orientated individual (two posts) to join the newly established Oligonucleotide Facility area as a Technician. This role mostly involves supporting the synthesis, purification and analysis of oligonucleotides aimed for both R&D and Production.

The Details...

Working closely with other members of the oligonucleotide facility team, you will provide essential support for the synthesis and purification of a wide range of DNA and RNA oligonucleotides. These aim to serve both critical R&D projects and Production, where they will be used in ONT's sequencing kit offering. The main responsibilities will be to set up synthesis runs, carry out oligonucleotide deprotection, prepare mobile phases for HPLC and MS, general reagent ordering and stock monitoring, and general lab housekeeping.

What We're Looking For...

We'll expect you to have some hands-on experience in a laboratory or manufacturing setting. In addition, you'll have A' Levels in Biology or Chemistry, advanced maths skills and a good understanding of scientific concepts. Knowledge of handling chemicals would also be advantageous.

You have a good eye for detail, are an effective communicator and enjoy working as part of a team. Organisational skills and a systematic approach to work would also be beneficial. This role will suit someone who is quality and process driven, responsive to customer needs and who can take a positive approach and work to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing environment.

This is initially a temporary position with a view to being made permanent for the right person
