Visitor Experience Officer

Devon, South West England, United Kingdom NATIONAL TRUST Full time

Summary

Being a Visitor Experience Officer for the National Trust is all about people – connecting with them, inspiring them, and making sure they have the best possible day when they come to visit.

During your time at Saltram, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of this years seasonal Christmas offer. This includes making preparations, and also delivering excellent service to visitors.

The Christmas season is the busiest time of year at Saltram, so you'll be working in a fast-paced and busy environment. The role requires flexibility on working days at property, including weekend working.

Interview date, Friday 18th October.

What it's like to work here

  • Reporting to Senior Programming & Partnerships Officer, you'll also collaborate and work closely with the whole Visitor Experience team at Saltram.
  • Saltram overlooks the River Plym and is set in a rolling landscape park that provides precious green space on the outskirts of Plymouth.
  • The mansion interiors are magnificently decorated and showcase an exceptional collection. The surrounding gardens feature sweeping lawns, specimen trees and exotic planting, as well as historic garden buildings and follies.

What you'll be doing

As Visitor Experience Officer, your work will include devising and running events and activities, and creating interpretive displays and other ways of bringing the place, and its stories, to life for everyone who comes here.

You might be supervising and supporting volunteers and organising rotas. You’re likely to be checking standards of presentation on site, or helping to write for our web pages.

Your main responsibilities will be supporting the delivery of the seasonal Christmas offer, which includes preparing for the event, and supporting front-line service teams.

Who we're looking for

We'd love to hear from you if you’re:

  • used to multiple deadlines and managing your own workload
  • skilled in organisation and planning, with a good eye for detail
  • good at talking to, and getting on with, all kinds of people
  • a hard-working and committed team player
  • comfortable with IT: Microsoft Office, as well as web and social media
  • experienced in producing interpretive materials, such as displays and exhibitions, and marketing or promotional materials
  • familiar with health and safety procedures

The package

The National Trust has the motto ‘For everyone, for ever’ at its heart. We’re working hard to create an inclusive culture, where everyone feels they belong. It’s important that our people reflect and represent the diversity of the communities and audiences we serve. We welcome and value difference, so when we say we’re for everyone, we want everyone to be welcome in our teams too.
