Description of role:

Yourgene Health, part of Novacyt Group are recruiting for a Clinical Research Technician on a full-time and permanent basis. The Clinical Research Technician will be based at our Manchester HQ located at Manchester Science Park to perform both laboratory and clinical trial related activities in the design and development of in vitro diagnostic products and services.


Overall responsibility:

The Clinical Research Technician will work with Scientists and the Medical Affairs team to ensure experimental work, biobanking and clinical trial administration is well planned and executed to a high quality in a timely fashion. They will work with a variety of molecular biology techniques and assist in the day-to-day operations of the Innovation and medical affairs team.


Key areas of responsibility:

  • Performance of both laboratory and clinical trial administration to a high standard with very good attention to detail, following SOPs, protocols and Good Clinical Practice.
  • Accurate documentation of laboratory work
  • Updates to SOPs as directed by supervisor(s)
  • Maintenance and management of biobank and biobanking software
  • Ensure own work meets quality requirements; including compliance to SOPs, documentation using electronic lab books, study plans, study reports and integrity of data
  • General lab maintenance and upkeep including maintenance of equipment, stock control and goods receipt within the Quality Management System.
  • Laboratory cleaning


Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

  • A degree in a life science such as molecular biology, biochemistry or genetics or HND/HNC with laboratory experience
  • Preferably hands on experience and a basic understanding of laboratory techniques, especially those used in Molecular Biology. Experience in any of the following areas of Molecular Biology is desirable: PCR, qPCR, DNA Sequencing, DNA/RNA Extraction.
  • Experience or a basic understanding of clinical trial processes and/or Good Clinical Practice
  • Good attention to detail
  • Ability to learn quickly during training and then perform tasks independently
  • Enthusiasm, drive, thoroughness, diligence and a willingness to take personal responsibility to ensure that projects are successful
  • Good organisational skills with ability to manage own workload and work across multiple projects.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office suite
