About the Opportunity


We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Finance to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, providing strategic financial guidance, and ensuring the long-term financial health of the company. This role requires a hands-on leader willing to get stuck in and excited to be a core part of a fast-growing scale-up company. This role has the potential to be offered on a part-time basis.


Key Responsibilities


1 Financial Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and long-term financial planning.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO and executive team based on financial analysis and projections.


2 Financial Management:

  • Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and audits.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage cash flow, treasury, and capital allocation to optimise financial performance.


3 Business Development and Growth:

  • Support fund-raising efforts, investor relations, and communications.
  • Participate in strategic planning and manage important partnerships to achieve company goals.
  • Engage in business development activities to drive growth and expand market presence.


4 Operational Excellence:

  • Streamline financial processes and implement best practices to enhance productivity.
  • Oversee financial systems and software to ensure efficiency and accuracy.


About You


Essential:

  • Proven experience in a senior financial leadership role in a start-up, scale-up or high-growth company.
  • Strong proficiency in financial management software including Xero and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional organisational skills with a proactive, detail-oriented approach.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.


Desirable:

  • Prior experience within the med-tech or healthcare sector.
  • Prior experience working with grants and equity investment.
  • An undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; advanced degree or certification (e.g., CPA, CFA) preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in financial leadership roles.
  • Experience with fund-raising, investor relations, and strategic planning.
