Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled financial leader to fill the role of Interim Head of Central Accounting and Financial Operations at the University of Cambridge. As a key member of our finance team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and security of all financial data, while providing strategic leadership and direction to the Central Accounting team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the core General Ledger and other associated modules to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and security of all financial data, while facilitating appropriate access to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain the financial rules and guidance in which the financial community operates, including the communication and training thereof.
  • Develop and oversee the Research Financial Assurance Framework for the University, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Provide leadership to a dedicated team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Qualified accountant with significant experience in complex accounting and reporting software.
  • Good working knowledge of current UK financial reporting standards (FRSs) and the Further and Higher Education SORP.
  • Strategic thinker able to work at a detailed level, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
