The service you will work in….

Our Modern Slavery Response Team works with potential survivors of Modern Slavery identified via the National Referral Mechanism. We support thousands of survivors to access services to support their recovery and reintegration. This includes high quality emotional and practical support. We work in close partnership with key stakeholders and local partners to optimize outcomes for our service users. The Service Manager will be responsible for managing and coaching high performing teams to ensure excellent quality services and strong contractual and organizational compliance.

The purpose of the role is to provide excellent high-quality support and guidance to advocates who are working with service users experiencing mental health crisis or have complex needs, including dual diagnosis. This post holder will provide specialist knowledge to advocates supporting service users with complex issues or those in crisis by liaising with statutory stakeholders; other voluntary sector providers to promote multi-agency working and support service users through crisis.

You will be a lead point of contact to the service and facilitate weekly clinics to provide advocates with expert advice to manage their complex cases and provide strategic oversight. You will carry out interventions and offer specialist advice to staff in line with organizational values and the ethos of recovery and co-production. All your work will be delivered in line with Hestia's policies and procedures, and our trauma-informed approach.

What this role looks like….

As a Mental Health Specialist at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Modern Slavery . Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence.

A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:

  • To offer specialist expert advice and solutions to advocates working with service users who are in crisis linked to complex needs or dual diagnoses, so they will be able to access emergency support and deliver impactful interventions.
  • To provide coaching and mentoring to advocates when dealing with mental health incidents in liaising with crisis teams and other Mental Health acute services.
  • ​To attend multi- agency meetings where appropriate to support Service Users and act as a key point of contact for the service for complex needs.
  • To work with advocates and managers in designing tailored intervention programs for service users with complex needs and implementing them in the service.
  • To support advocates to identify service user needs and mitigate risk, which may include some outreach visits in the community on complex cases.
  • To hold clinics during office hours to advise around complex cases.
  • To work collaboratively with Managers and their teams to identify gaps and deliver bespoke training to advocates and service users around complex needs.
  • To be a strategic lead and mentor within the MSRS team around embedding person centred practices and trauma informed approaches.
  • To keep abreast of any legislation and upskill the team in related areas. This may include providing briefings to Senior Leadership.
  • To provide specialist knowledge to advocates on complex cases and sharing best practice.
  • To provide the team with tools and resources on how to support service users to keep mentally fit and healthy with the aim to decrease anxiousness/anxiety, improve self-management, improve self-reported outcomes. Advocates can then support SU's to develop personal safety plans/ Wrap plans to measure positive outcomes.

  • You have experience of staff coaching and delivering training.
  • You have experience of supporting vulnerable people.
  • You can demonstrate knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to address them appropriately.​
  • You have experience of working with individuals who have experienced mental health and/or dual diagnosis issues.
  • and a non-judgmental approach to working with people with complex needs.
  • You are solution focused and pro-active in achieving high quality client work and results in a fast paced and outcome focused environment.
  • You understand the importance of discretion and confidentiality in relation to work and maintaining professional boundaries.
  • You have a proven track record of effective multi-agency working and stakeholder relationships. ​
  • You have excellent IT skills that including a working knowledge of functions in MS Word, Outlook, and the internet.​
  • You have excellent literacy and numeracy skills, able to produce clear written correspondence in hard copy or email.​
  • You are an excellent communicator and people person who is genuine and empathetic.
  • You are excellent at building relationships with team members and the public.
  • You are flexible and adaptable team player with a can-do attitude.
  • You can undertake a variety of activities with a substantial degree of personal responsibility and autonomy.
