Role purpose

Support DCS is building robust governance, risk and compliance by delivering on the enterprise risk and compliance management strategies and providing risk and compliance management expertise.


Reporting into the Head of Process Governance & Control, this new role will be responsible for delivering risk and compliance transformation required to meets the needs of the business as it grows and driving a proactive risk and compliance management culture across DCS that provides transparency and assurance to senior leaders, supporting the decision-making process.


Key accountabilities


Risk management:

Supporting with the design and implementation of an Enterprise Risk Management system that will include evaluating existing risk practices and incorporating into a standardised risk management approach across the business.


  • Development of a DCS Risk Management Policy, Framework and Standards.
  • Support all elements of the risk management process as required :
  • conduct regular risk identification, assessment and evaluation with management across the various business functions;
  • work with the business to define controls and action plans required to effectively manage the risks identified;
  • work with Risk Owners to define risk appetite and ensure ongoing monitoring of set appetite;
  • drive maturity of the risk management process, ensuring risk information is used to effectively support decision making;
  • provide support, education and training to the business to build risk awareness and to promote the right risk culture within the organisation.
  • Perform corporate risk management activities to assess Fraud, Anti-bribery and corruption, tax evasion and AML risks etc. to demonstrate adequate procedures in place to prevent risks from materialising (UK Bribery Act, ECCTA, CCO)
  • Monitoring the environment for emerging risks and deliver on specific risk related projects / deep dives in response to business needs (E.g.: major construction builds and climate risks)
  • Support the development of risk reporting and relevant material for the Executive Leadership Team, DCS Governance Committee and the Audit Committee.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and to continuously improve DCS’ risk management system.


Compliance management

  • Supporting in monitoring the DCS Compliance Framework and delivery of the Implementation Roadmap.
  • Working with the business to catalogue compliance requirements from legislations, regulations, industry standards and policies and supporting the business in risk assessment.
  • Supporting DCS Compliance Leads and Regional Compliance Committees in performing quarterly compliance management assessments and tracking of actions.
  • Developing and executing a global compliance monitoring program that may include compliance checklists, spot checks and/or audits across compliance areas, using a risk-based approach.
  • Provide support, education and communication to the business to build compliance awareness and to promote the right compliance culture within the organisation.
  • Support compliance reporting and relevant material for the Executive Leadership Team, DCS Governance Committee and the Audit Committee.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and to continuously improve DCS’ compliance management system.


Relationships and key contacts

  • Exposure to the Senior Leadership Team, Executive Leadership Team, Directors and Senior Managers across DCS regions – Europe, Japan and India.
  • Industry regulators and auditors (e.g. ISO, External Auditors)


Skills & Experience

  • Background – Experienced Risk / Compliance / Audit Manager or Risk / Compliance / Audit Professional, with minimum of 4 years’ experience gained in a Big 4 consultancy/ Global Corporate Organisations / FTSE 100 or similar. Track record of driving risk and compliance management maturity and being solution focused. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills .
  • Risk and Compliance Management Experience – Experience and knowledge of risk and/or compliance management framework methodologies and practices gained in global corporate organisations or consultancy practices. Track record of enhancing maturity in risk and compliance functions and processes.
  • Communication and Influencing Skills – Proven track record in developing strong stakeholder relationships, excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will be a clear and focussed communicator, with the ability to build rapport and to challenge stakeholders when required. Also have the ability to collate and summarise information in plain English and to design engaging reports for various audiences.
  • Problem-solving skills – Ability to identify the nature of a problem, deconstruct it and work with the business to address it.
  • Organisational skills – A self-starter who can be relied upon to act on initiative and take full ownership of deliverables and who has the ability to successfully manage many work streams simultaneously.
  • Although experience in data centre or technology sector is not essential, some understanding of the sector would be beneficial.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or a qualification in accounting (ACA,ACCA,CIMA).
  • Relevant qualification in risk management is desirable (CRMA, Diploma from IRM, C-Risk).
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, PowerBI and data analytics, ability to present risk information in a compelling way.
