I am working with a company who are a leading provider of standby power solutions, power supply systems, and heat and power solutions in the UK, they have over 100 employees and have been running for over 40 years.

Position: Applications/ Sales Engineer - Projects

Location: South UK (Office-Based)

Start Date: ASAP

Employment Type: Full-time

Working Hours: Monday-Friday: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Salary Range: £45,000 to £53,000

Car Allowance: £7,000/year

Phone Allowance: Yes

Additional Benefits: Health cash plan, performance bonus, enhanced maternity/paternity leave, 25 days holiday (increasing with service), relevant training opportunities.

Role Overview:

This role is primarily office-based, focusing on generator and UPS projects worth £100,000 and above. Responsibilities include client meetings and site visits to support account managers, developing cost estimates, preparing tenders, and working closely with the design team, supply chain, and other stakeholders.

This role could be a good fit for someone from an Electrician or Electrical background that is looking to get off the tools.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with account managers and clients to understand project requirements.
  • Review client specifications and estimate project costs.
  • Ensure tenders meet deadlines and compliance standards.
  • Liaise with suppliers for project-specific information and pricing.
  • Produce cost-effective and compliant quotations, identifying opportunities and risks.
  • Write bid letters and tender responses; create compliance documents.
  • Support account managers with site visits and meetings.
  • Provide input for internal pricing tools and maintain up-to-date pricing information.
  • Attend project handovers and regular sales and estimating meetings.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Essential:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role or industry.
  • Experience in estimating, project management, or commercial environments in mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • Strong attention to detail and a balanced technical and commercial outlook.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Desirable:
  • Qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Knowledge of generator installations and related equipment.
  • Familiarity with building services plant and BMS protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus, BACNet).
  • CSCS card or equivalent.
