Automation Engineer

As the Automation Engineer, you will join a cutting-edge laboratory and manufacturing facility in Southampton, Hampshire.
You’ll be a key member of a dynamic design team, working alongside three mechanical design engineers, where your expertise in electrical design will be vital as the company embarks on its journey toward industrialisation and automation.

Key Activities for the Automation Engineer:
- Take charge of electrical design engineering, collaborating closely with mechanical design engineers to provide technical support and guidance across automation projects.
- Offer technical expertise and support for both new and ongoing electrical automation projects to ensure successful execution.
- Work with multi-discipline engineering and manufacturing teams to achieve integrated project outcomes.
- Lead the design and integration process, coordinating with OEM suppliers to ensure projects meet technical and quality standards.
- Identify and define integration requirements for new equipment, particularly in cleanroom and laboratory environments.
- Establish procedures to ensure equipment meets performance standards and complies with ISO9001 quality management systems.
- Provide expertise in integrating new equipment and automation within laboratory and manufacturing settings.
Key Experience We’re Looking For:
- Electrical System Expertise: Ability to design, implement, install, and maintain electrical systems within a manufacturing setting.
- Practical Electrical Design Experience: Demonstrable hands-on experience in electrical design.
- CAD Proficiency: Proficient in CAD software such as SOLIDWORKS or CREO.
- Educational Background: Hold a Degree/Masters qualification (or equivalent) in Electronic/Electrical Engineering or a related subject.
- Industrialisation and Automation Experience: Experience in industrialisation and automation within a manufacturing clean room facility.
- Drawing Interpretation: Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings.
