Role | Services Engineer
Responsibilities | Design of building services systems (heat pumps, point of use hot water, MVHR, lighting, PV) for retrofit projects, from early-stage heat decarbonisation plans through to delivery, soft landings, and post-occupancy evaluation. You will also be responsible for managing electrical systems, including Distribution Network Operator (DNO) coordination, load testing, phase rebalancing, and infrastructure upgrades (CT meters, fuses, cables, substations).
Based | London Waterloo / hybrid.
⌚ Full-time | 40 hours per week (9am-6pm)
Salary | £42,000
This is a unique opportunity to combine your mechanical and electrical engineering expertise with hands-on collaboration, not only with professionals such as architects but also by delivering, alongside your colleagues, our in-person and online training sessions for school premises managers. You will play a key role in supporting targeted energy-saving audits in schools, making a tangible impact on sustainability.
To excel in this role, you should have a solid understanding of electrical capacity and loads, particularly within schools (or equivalent environments). You will be responsible for planning, specifying, and commissioning electrical load testing, phase rebalancing, and potential infrastructure upgrades, including working with DNOs and systems such as CT meters, fuses, cables, and substations.
As the practice focuses on decarbonising schools and community buildings, familiarity with air source heat pumps and their electrical requirements, as well as experience in low-carbon heating solutions, will be essential.
Passivhaus knowledge would be regarded positively, as many of our retrofit projects aim to meet or exceed high energy efficiency standards. And of course, you will have a relevant mechanical and electrical engineering degree.
The team are passionate and focused, to succeed as part of this team you need to have a can-do attitude, a positive and approachable outlook, an ability to work with all people in different organisations, schools and businesses and be able to learn and understand what they do.
Please note that this role requires an enhanced DBS check.
