London, UK, United Kingdom Nando's Group Limited Part time

A bit about us...

Ask people where Nando’s comes from and you’ll get a different answer every time. Portugal? Mexico? The UK? Our story actually starts in Rosettenville, a Portuguese neighbourhood in Johannesburg, South Africa. With stops in Mozambique and the UK along the way.

It was 1987 and Robbie Brozin and Fernando Duarte opened their first chicken restaurant. Then another. And then another. Fast forward five years and Nando’s landed in the UK. Now, with over 460 restaurants (and counting), our PERi-PERi is a bestselling hot sauce and Nando’s has become as big a part of culture as drinking tea.

Our Group Central Support team aims to work shoulder to shoulder alongside our restaurant markets across the globe, working in fluid teams to bring to life the Nando’s eco-system through a spirit of deep collaboration.

Purpose of the role..

We’re looking for an experienced People Partner for a 12 month maternity cover, to support and facilitate the end-to-end Nandoca (what we call employees) experience in our Group Central Support office based in Battersea. You’ll sit within the Group People team, which supports Organisational Development, Talent, Reward and Data for the global Group. Once you’re settled into your People Partner responsibilities, there’s also potential for you to support on a current project which could span anything from leadership talent to changing lives.

A day in the life...

  • People Cycle: driving and maintaining an annual cycle of People activities that support our managers and people to be their best and work collaboratively in an evolving business.
  • Talent: Hold our managers to account for the continuing development of their teams. This includes accurately understanding, implementing and managing talent activities, supporting the objectives and end of year review process and taking ownership of the talent planning at this level.
  • Recruitment: Working pragmatically with a combination of in-house local market recruitment teams, external recruiters and/or using your own recruitment skills. Providing the necessary tools to onboard new talent.
  • Reward and Global Mobility: Within the Group CS team, supporting the monthly payroll process, annual salary review, incentive process and ad-hoc reward queries. Working alongside local reward teams in the UK to maintain and renew appropriate benefits offering in each market. Supporting permanent and short-term global talent moves.
  • Wellbeing: Supporting programmes which look at wellbeing holistically and individually, encouraging all Nandocas to “be the best me” and support one another through challenging times.
  • Learning and Development: Supporting managers to lead conversations around personal development, with guidance on accessing resources and building links with market learning teams to support everyone to be the best version of themselves, as well as build technical capability within their functional areas.
  • Safe and Legal: Working with the UK based specialists to have a broad understanding of existing and upcoming employment legislation to ensure legal compliance with all people related issues. Across all teams, you’ll ensure all employee relations are managed effectively within teams, supporting accordingly. If escalated due to risk, cost or profile, you’ll provide on-going support and guidance

Hot skills...

  • 5 years+ HR Generalist experience - ideally already as a People Partner, to work with minimal supervision, including Reward, L&D, Recruitment, Talent Development and ER.
  • Resourceful self-starter- able to deliver a plan in a small-scale structure with high levels of complexity. With bags of self-motivation, organisation and self-discipline, you’ll take ownership to make things happen at pace.
  • Excellent communicator- Sophisticated two-way communication knowing when and how to use the right level of tact and diplomacy, with an ability to tailor your message accordingly
  • Good judgement- Able to make sound judgements with maturity, knowing when to exercise discretion and when to escalate issues/matters
  • Detail orientated- numerate and literate, you’ll have a keen eye for detail in both data and documentation, ensuring a project is seen through to completion with accuracy.
  • Relationship builder–building strong relationships with your many stakeholders at all levels in person, externally and remotely. You’ll enjoy the diversity of the different business cultures and stakeholders you’ll be interacting with, flexing your style accordingly.
  • Culture Driver – leads with our cultural compass and our leadership beliefs as you guide so you can inspire and grow peers and key stakeholders to work in partnership with you.
  • Challenger- you’ll hold others to account, as well as constantly be challenging yourself and the business to seek out opportunities that drive our culture forward in a changing environment.

Extra Hot benefits...

  • Company bonus
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Free Nando’s when you're working (and 40% discount when you're not)
  • Annual team trips, AKA a free holiday
  • Reward Gateway membership and access to great discounts
  • Four-week sabbatical every five years you’ve been with us
  • Private healthcare

This is a hybrid role working 3 days a week in our Battersea office. For the right level of experience, we could potentially consider someone looking for a Part-Time role, 3-4 days per week.
