About Us


ElecLink was established in 2011 to develop a high voltage direct current interconnector linking the electricity markets of Great Britain and France via the Channel Tunnel. In May of 2022, ElecLink successfully launched commercial operations increasing the existing interconnection capacity between the two countries and enhancing security of electricity supply. By utilising the existing Channel Tunnel infrastructure, ElecLink offers 1,000 MW of additional bidirectional capacity with very low environmental impact and very high reliability supporting the efficient utilisation of generation sources (including intermittent low carbon generation) in both countries.


ElecLink is a wholly owned subsidiary of Getlink which also owns Eurotunnel, the Company which manages and operates the infrastructure of the Channel Tunnel.


Overview


The IT Support Analyst will be responsible for supporting the End User Computing infrastructure at ElecLink. The End User Computing infrastructure includes the computing devices (laptops, desktops, tablets, mobile phones, video conferencing hubs etc.), software and networking components.


The IT Support Analyst will be responsible for the design and testing and overseeing the development and implementation of the technical aspects of users end user devices and services along with network support. The successful candidate will provide insightful evaluation to the team considering the broad and constantly evolving IT and security landscape, while ensuring strong attention to detail and timely and cost-effective delivery. The role will focus on the technical aspects of ElecLink’s IT systems, integration between systems, data-to-day IT operations, and project coordination.


ElecLink uses Microsoft services for End User Computing. In-depth understanding of Microsoft and Networking services are required for the role.


The primary office is located in London. However, you will be required to travel to converter station sites in the UK (Folkestone area) and France at least once a month or as operational needs arise.


General Responsibilities


End user support

  • Engaging with end users to find the nature of the problems they are facing (Hardware and Software) and work with suppliers/managed service provider to resolve it
  • Taking ownership of user issues reported and seeing problems through to resolution
  • Advising the end-users and management on possible solutions
  • Coordinate fixes with the help of supplier or self
  • Escalating complex problems and managing workaround solutions
  • Preparation of procedures as per policies

User Administration

  • Administration and technical support of Corporate IT environment -Integrated Office 365 with Azure
  • Administration of SharePoint for internal and external users
  • Mobile Device Management (MDM)


User onboarding and de-provisioning

  • Management of joiners, movers and leavers
  • Installing and configuring computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers, video conference equipment and other peripherals for ElecLink users


System Maintenance

  • Planning and undertaking scheduled maintenance upgrades.
  • Setting up accounts for new staff and ensuring their onboarding
  • Maintaining accurate asset register of End User Computing (EUC) devices
  • Ensuring trouble shooting network issues in offices and between systems
  • Support out of office hours, if required


Contract Management

  • License and subscription management
  • Hardware/Software procurement
  • Handling mobile phone contracts
  • Maintaining licenses and security certificates


Project Management

  • End-to End project management for implementation of corporate IT projects/changes


System Security

  • Support control room operations from and End user and network point of view
  • Monitor security access, incident and event analysis, and reporting to internal and external parties
  • Monitor IT industry developments of relevance to ElecLink and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of EU cyber security requirements applicable to ElecLink, in both cases to make enhancement recommendations to management
  • Continuously monitor ElecLink Microsoft environment and recommend/implement security controls


Minimum Standards and Selection Criteria


Experience required

  • Demonstrable experience gained in IT Support working in the end user computing area
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience with good knowledge of Microsoft/Office 365 administration and broad IT consultancy experience
  • Implementation and operations of Cyber security controls against various threats and vulnerabilities


Experience desired

  • Experience of multiple IT domains, especially in technical and infrastructure roles
  • Experience working for an electricity transmission system operator, energy consulting firm or other electricity industry stakeholder (generator, supplier, power exchange or trader)


Travel Requirement

  • Main office location will be London
  • Monthly travel to convertor stations in the UK (Folkestone area) and France, and additional travel as operational needs arise


Education

  • Degree level or higher in IT or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Preferred certifications:
  1. Microsoft Azure certification(s)
  2. Microsoft 365 certification (fundamentals/Security)
  3. PRINCE2 certification in project management


Skills:

  • Highly effective coordination or project management skills
  • Attention to detail and strong focus on getting things right in the first place
  • Ability to understand the wider business context in which the organisation sits
  • Good written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Self-starter and results orientated
  • Good team player wishing to collaborate and share expertise across the organisation
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Fluent in English. Knowledge of French would be an advantage, but not essential
  • Travel to south of England and France will be required.
