London, UK, United Kingdom GAIL's Bakery Full time

People Partner - GAIL's Bakery

RESPONSIBLE FOR

Partnering our incredible operations team, holding impactful conversations around people and culture, overall accountability for succession in their regions, and working closely with Talent and L&D to drive a world class people experience. “Caring every step of the way”

JOB PURPOSE

Aligned with long term vision for the business – 350 bakeries by 2027

This role will support and input our people strategy helping the cultural development of GAILs. Working with the Head of People, you will lead the GAIL’s team to drive a people first approach across the business, being the engine behind our scale.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As people partner, you will lead us in driving our people experience and delivering our best-in-class people strategy through true partnering with our operations leadership team, operations team, and the wider people team.

We believe that happy, engaged teams do amazing things, and through positive connection, great communication, well-rewarded jobs, and a meaningful focus on well-being and inclusion we can achieve our future mission to be the best place to grow and work in our sector, and ensure each new bakery is as special and beautiful to our people and community as our first. As people partner, you will lead hearts and minds across the wider business to deliver on our mission, vision, and values.

You will be responsible for:

  • Working together with our operations managers, Bakery Managers and support teams to align businesses goals and devise a people roadmap linked to the higher business strategy.
  • You will collaboratively drive the succession and talent mapping, drawing upon our recruitment and learning teams to grow and develop our people internally to support our future growth plans
  • Drive the people experience and value proposition in your region so to attract and retain the best talent in our sector, making sure every individual gets the most out of working for GAIL’s
  • Support the wider people strategy through creating human, scalable and sustainable people infrastructure and practices which enable high-performing teams and help our growth.
  • Coaching operators, and their management teams to ensure that they are comfortable and confident with their leadership and management style.
  • Work collaboratively and creatively with the people team to tap into our collective wisdom and share your own
  • Work with our people shared service to build on the nuts and bolts of our people experience
  • Overseeing the employee relations processes in your region ensuring adherence to company policy,
  • Informing, iterating, and challenging our people strategy to ensure we are setting the market trends rather than being led.
  • Running experience workshops, to drive engagement and to provide qualitative data to inform our future benefits suite.
  • Champion wellbeing and inclusion initiatives within GAIL’s driving a culture of care at all levels.

What we are looking for from you?

  • Experience of working within growing businesses in a People Partnering role.
  • You’ve built and managed a great team of people yourself so that you can lean on your practical experience when coaching managers and leaders.
  • You consider coaching and mentoring as key parts of your People toolkit (even if you’re not a qualified coach); having worked directly with Operators, leadership teams and across whole businesses, you feel comfortable talking to a diverse range of stakeholders with different interests, perspectives and personalities.
  • You enjoy facilitating practical and experiential workshops that lead to meaningful development and behavior change
  • You are comfortable zooming out to take account of the whole picture and zooming in to do the doing
  • You’re capable of context-switching and are excited by variety - each week.
  • You’re endlessly curious and embrace the philosophy of strong opinions weakly held; you’re never possessive over ideas and don’t believe there is one right way to do things
  • You’re self-aware and reflective - you’ve experimented a lot in your career so far and have a good sense of what worked and what didn’t.
  • You have bags of EQ, and arguably more AQ (adaptability quotient).
  • You have a good level of ER experience and are confident in coaching on a variety of cases.
