The Catering Operations Manager will assist the Key Account Manager in providing strategic direction for the entire food service across the site, including retail outlets, back of house, patient feeding, and private patients.
Job Description
The Catering Operations Manager will oversee the effective day-to-day operation of these areas, ensuring high-quality catering services for patients, staff, and visitors.
Your role will involve maintaining a clean and safe environment in an efficient manner, in accordance with specifications, and being responsive to service needs to constantly improve productivity and quality.
You will work closely with the Retail Restaurant Chef Supervisor, Catering Manager, and Chefs to participate in effective menu development and merchandising, maximising sales opportunities in line with the Company's 'Cutting Edge' marketing manual.
Additionally, you will ensure all work is undertaken in line with health, safety, security, and company and trust policies and procedures, including infection control.
This role may involve exposure to sensitive circumstances, and you will be expected to deputise for the Key Account Manager as required, providing leadership and support to your team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage staffing and competence levels of employees throughout the whole food service
- Complete accurate records for company systems including costings where required, sickness procedures, quality monitoring, training, activity lists and staff performance monitoring
- Liaise with management staff under your control by way of discussions and regular team meetings. i.e. Performance Reviews, Job Chats, Return to Work discussions and accident and other investigations
- The effective supervision, training, motivation, discipline, safety, and general welfare of staff under your control
- Organise and allocate the staff under your control to carry out the catering services within a designated area
- Ensure that the work schedule and quality standards are adhered to in line with the specification
- Plan, coordinate and order food requirements using historical data and in accordance with menu cycles
- Order, control, monitor and issue food, relevant uniform, equipment, materials and other goods required by the staff under your control to carry out their duties effectively
- Organise and deliver job related training to meet the needs of new and existing staff to ensure they are adequately trained to carry out their duties in all areas in accordance with the Training Plan
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
- Previous catering experience is essential
- Basic Food Hygiene training will be provided and must be passed to undertake this role
