The successful applicant will be responsible for driving and implementing all strategic, revenue-generating business development activities across five groups, Corporate Transactions & Advisory, Financial Institutions M&A, Antitrust, Tech & Digital and Intellectual Property, with a particular focus on building stronger and broader relationships with the firm’s Corporate clients. Reporting to the Global Head of Corporate Client & Market Development, you will act as a trusted adviser to lawyers at all levels and will lead, coach and mentor a high performing team of six individuals, ensuring that they are effectively contributing to the team's goals and the firm's strategic objectives. You will work with Practice Area Leaders and the Practice Area Manager to implement the client, product and sector strategy, ensuring the right partners are deployed on the right opportunities and that partners are getting the BD support they need in key growth areas. Driving collaboration across the London office and global Corporate practice, the role holder will create and oversee market-leading business development activities, steering marketing investment decisions and leading on some of the most significant must-win proposals. You will be expected to place a particular emphasis on deepening and growing the firm’s stable of Corporate clients, both PLCs and multinational corporates that are headquartered outside the UK, and will be required to foster cross-product teaming and cross-pollination of best practice and insights to grow client relationships. Marketing and communications will represent a key area of focus. The Senior Business Development Manager will be required to ensure reputation enhancing opportunities are maximised through flagship marketing and events programmes and will oversee the delivery of awards and directory submissions. In addition, as part of the London Senior Management Group, you will be responsible for leading on projects which directly impact the function, including training and development programmes, operational efficiencies and cross practice initiatives.

Prerequisites for this role include an outstanding academic record or equivalent allied to extensive business development experience gained in a leading law or professional services firm, to include a proven track record of developing and executing successful business development and marketing strategies and initiatives. A motivated self-starter who is committed to high performance, the Senior Business Development Manager will possess excellent relationship-building capabilities and exceptional communication and presentation skills. Strong leadership and team management abilities combined with previous experience leading cross-functional teams will also be essential.
