Role Purpose

As an essential member of the Safety & Facilities Department, you will support the day-to-day operations and contribute to both short and long-term planning. aiding our commitment to putting our teams at the forefront of everything that we do.

This role will ensure that our initiatives focus on safe working environments for all of our teams in all locations: Working with our Retail Team across the country and supporting with our sites at Watford SC and Hemel DC.

This role is designed to help support the key Safety & Facilities department objectives and be a key leader to aid the successful implementation of our Safety & FM strategy and vision.


Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Supporting our FM provider with the day to day operation for the stores within your regional locations.
  • Provide guidance to all colleagues teams on all Safety & FM matters.
  • Support the implementation of new safety initiatives.
  • Provide support during accident investigations and the implementation of preventative measures.
  • Responsible for the image and visual standards of all locations taking ownership for any remedial works.
  • Ensure that planned preventative maintenance visit’s are carried out, as scheduled - tracking compliance against KPI’s.
  • Project Manage minor store improvements and refurbishment works, both Opex and Capex - on-site support during contractor activities.
  • Continually improve our current ways of working - supporting new ideas for growth and change.
  • Approve contractor safety permits to work - where applicable.
  • Where required escalate emergency situations and provide coordination and support to all.
  • Ensure that contractor safety management systems are adhered to.
  • Financially plan for the stores within your remit - annual budget forecasting/re-forecasting, weekly and monthly spend reviews.
  • Carry out property condition audits and surveys, whilst visiting stores.
  • Report all accidents and incidents for the FM operations within your remit.
  • Support the on-site pre construction meetings for any ad hoc irregular works.


Knowledge/ Skills/ Experience

  • Ideally you’ll have a BIFM Level 3 qualification or equivalent as a minimum, ideally working towards a BIFM Diploma or equivalent
  • You’ll have a Nebosh General Certificate, or working towards obtaining
  • You should have previous experience of managing Safety & Facilities in retail, offices and logistics
  • You must be able to deal with demanding situations
  • Remain objective and remain focused on the wider outcome
  • Stay positive when times get tough
  • Self-managing and prioritising time and workloads, without direct supervision
  • Great communication skills to liaise with colleagues throughout all areas of our business
