This is an entrepreneurial role which requires a passion for engaging and understanding clients challenges and bringing together teams to develop innovative, disruptive technologies and products that deliver substantial impact to our clients. You will have responsibility for developing a substantial professional fee-for-service business. Your understanding of the technologies and your commercial business experience will enable you to be trusted by clients and internal teams to guide the creation of valuable propositions and to close deals.
We work on client opportunities as a team, combining the feel of working in a start-up with the resources and support of a globally successful company. You’ll be working alongside other commercial team members aswell as senior project managers and technical specialists. Business Development is a broad role at Cambridge Consultants combining market strategy, early client engagement, proposal development and you will often maintain and develop your relationships with client throughout the project delivery and beyond. In helping our clients to realise their ambitions, you will make a real difference with direct contribution to our client’s success
Day to Day
As a Business Developer within the Consumer Business Unit, you will work collaboratively with teams across the business to identify potential clients, develop trusting client relationships, identify project opportunities, and define strategies to address these, along with key client management and contract negotiations. You will be expected to seek new business opportunities through your industry contacts and networks and to build and grow these through networking and market outreach. That will mean developing your domain knowledge, and collaborating widely with our regional teams to deliver the breakthrough technology needed to solve our clients’ business challenges.
Your responsibilities include:
- Working collaboratively across regions to develop strong and trusting relationships with senior executives in client and potential client companies
- Working collaboratively in teams to engage with companies to understand how cutting-edge concepts and ideas can be applied to drive breakthrough innovation for our clients for business impact.
- Sponsor thought leadership and other marketing content to raise awareness of the value of the professional services that Cambridge Consultants can deliver in a broad range of technology focused markets.
- Facilitate and lead initiatives to identify and engage with companies that are potential clients for Cambridge Consultants, actively utilising market information to guide the technical team and inform strategy and internal investments
- Actively collaborating with other parts of the business to promote the broader capabilities of CC and draw on the capabilities of the wider organisation, to better serve our clients
What you need to succeed
The successful applicant will be a talented, ambitious, and entrepreneurial individual with a desire to create and lead new business activities.
Essential skills and experience:
- Ability to develop business with Consumer and particularly Consumer Electronics clients, working alongside other business development, project management and technical colleagues
- Experience in developing hardware technology from concept to launch
- Ability to facilitate lead the closing of substantial sales in collaboration with project delivery and technical colleagues
- 5+ years of professional experience in a relevant positions or industries
- Market knowledge of technologies relevant to the future of Consumer and Consumer Electronics, e.g., AI, Digital Services and Semiconductor technology
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- A degree in an appropriate technical domain
Desirable skills and experience:
- Demonstrate a strong technical foundation to establish credibility with customers
- Market knowledge of emerging technologies
- Experience of physical/digital system development
- Experience of consultative selling
- Professional services sales experience
- Experience of taking business through the full account lifecycle from acquisition through project fulfilment to scaling.
