The Role:

We have an exciting Director level opportunity to join the Nxera Medicinal Chemistry team to lead the Hit Identification function/strategy.


Your responsibilities:

Work with key stakeholders across other disciplines in Nxera Discovery to define and execute strategies to deliver high quality novel hit matter to Hit to Lead and Lead Optimization Projects

  • Direct the successful application of Nxera's cutting-edge GPCR structural platform, as well as chemogenomic and phenotypic screening platforms, to deliver quality hit matter into the Discovery portfolio.
  • Enable and embed other hit-finding technologies at Nxera by expanding in-house capabilities and through partnerships.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams and manage other Medicinal Chemists
  • Contribute to the successful progression and delivery of Nxera Internal and Partnered projects.
  • Interface Hit Identification with early-stage biology Target Identification/ Validation.


The skills and experience we are looking for:

  • PhD (or MSc with equivalent lab experience) in a relevant area of Chemistry.
  • Show an extensive track record of small molecule Hit Identification in an industry drug discovery setting.
  • History of delivering small molecule Hits that have been progressed and optimised in drug discovery projects.
  • Demonstrable track record of successfully directing multi-disciplinary projects in the Hit Identification or Hit to Lead phases in an industry drug discovery setting.
  • Expertise in the application of two or more distinct state of state-of-the-art Hit Identification technologies/strategies.
  • Experience interfacing Hit Identification and molecular tool provision with Target Identification/Validation is desirable but not essential.
