Role Specific:

As the Southern Business Development Manager at Prima Cheese, your role is to develop new business within the southern UK domestic market.


We are seeking a dynamic candidate who will be responsible for expanding our market presence and obtaining new customers specifically in the southern region of the UK, focusing on the food manufacturing sector, Italian wholesalers and franchise/QSR restaurants. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success selling into the food industry, with a keen ability to build and nurture their own pipeline. Creativity in generating leads and a strong understanding of the food market is essential for this role.

  • Utilise creative methods to generate leads, including networking events, cold calling, social media outreach and partnership development.
  • Negotiate contract terms and close deals to achieve sales targets and maximise profitability.
  • Track and report on sales matrices and KPI’s providing regular updates to management on progress against targets.
  • Utilise market research and industry knowledge to identify key decision-makers and influences within target organisations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with prospective clients through networking, cold calling and attending industry events.
  • Conduct product presentations and demonstrations to showcase Prima Cheese’s offerings and value proposition.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to customise solutions and address client needs effectively.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements to close deals and secure long-term partnerships.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities and regulatory changes to inform sales strategies and tactics.


What will I be doing?

As the New Business Development Manager, you are to develop effective sales strategies to attract new customers within the targeted sectors as well as leveraging on your existing relationships and networks to identify potential business opportunities. You will interact with potential customers as well as internal teams to ensure the upmost client care.


You are to provide expert knowledge and presentations about Prima Cheese products and services to potential customers, negotiate contracts and close agreements to maximise profits and attend any industry events and conferences to generate new business leads and networks.


You will also provide detailed reports on business development activities and results as well as inputting any relevant information onto company systems and databases. You will also forecast long-term market potential and develop strategies to ensure sustained business growth.


What are we looking for?

We are looking for a candidate with proven field-based sales negotiation experience with FMCG, specifically in food or repeat purchase consumables. This role requires an ideal candidate to have a robust ‘black book’ of contacts and networks and a proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close. We are also looking for the below:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of successful sales experience within the food industry, preferably with cheese or dairy products.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to meet with clients and attend industry events.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence key stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and building a strong sale pipeline.
  • Strong understanding of the food market landscape, including market trends, customer preferences and competitive dynamics.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to articulate value propositions and build rapport with clients.
  • Proficiency in CFM software and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Hold a full UK drivers licence.
