We have an exciting opportunity for a Health & Safety Advisor to join our plant based in Knottingley.


To assist the Health & Safety Manager in providing health and safety guidance and advice to the organisation and ensuring compliance with legislation, company policy, procedures and processes.


This role would be ideal for someone who is ready to progress into a Health & Safety Manager position within the next 9 to 12 months.


To provide guidance and support on health and safety issues to all functions in order that risks to personnel, visitors and company assets are managed effectively, and to improve the safety culture.


Company Description


Stoelzle Flaconnage is deemed Stoelzle’s centre of excellence concerning development, production and decoration of Premium Spirits Bottles, with the capability to produce glass containers from 5cl up to 4.5l in extra white flint glass or feeder colouration. Due to the utmost flexibility, the site is able to also manufacture small batches for limited editions of luxury brands.


Responsibilities


  • To work in a way that engages with employees at all levels in maintaining and improving Health and Safety standards;
  • To assist in the development of procedures that take into account legislation and best practice;
  • Assistance in development and implementation of a comprehensive Health and Safety strategy;
  • Lead in-house training and provide guidance on health and safety for managers and employees;
  • The assessment of risk and the implementation of suitable control and improvement activities to reduce any identified risks, including general risk assessments, manual handling, fire, COSHH etc;
  • The investigation of accidents, incidents and near misses, working with those involved to develop improvements to prevent reoccurrences;
  • Liaise with external agencies and internal support functions, such as Occupational Health;
  • Involvement in the Health and Safety committee, actively promoting awareness of health and safety issues;
  • Provide advice on specialist areas such as fire regulations, first aid, hazardous substances, machinery and more;

  • Deputise for the Health and Safety Manager in their absence;
  • Continue professional development of yourself;
  • To support other projects or initiatives assigned to you.


Skills & Qualifications Required


  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate at all levels;
  • NEBOSH National Diploma in Health and Safety (or equivalent) or working towards;
  • Member of IOSH;
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude;
  • Good organisational skills;
  • Manufacturing experience is desirable;
  • Experience of working for a medium to large company;
  • Friendly approach;
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy environment;
  • Able to work as part of a team or individually.
