Job Summary:

As the Construction Health and Safety Manager specialising in building facades, you will play a pivotal role in promoting and maintaining a culture of safety excellence within our organisation. Your expertise will ensure that our projects are executed in compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, minimising risks and ensuring the well-being of our employees, contractors, and the public.

Candidates must have a practical approach to Health & Safety which can be implemented into our current workflows and processes.


Job Title: H&S Manager

Job Type: Full-time, permanent / Monday to Friday 9am-5pm

Location: Sheffield (S6) based with regular travel across our sites around the UK.

Salary: Between £50-£60k DOE + package

The employer will provide reimbursement for expenses.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive health and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines specific to building facades.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and site supervisors to identify potential hazards related to facade construction and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to assess safety compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide safety training and orientation for employees, subcontractors, and other stakeholders involved in projects.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, providing thorough analysis and recommendations for preventive measures.
  • Stay updated on UK health and safety regulations and industry best practices relevant to building facades.
  • Monitor and ensure the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety gear on construction sites.
  • Coordinate with local authorities and regulatory agencies to obtain necessary permits and approvals.
  • Foster a proactive safety culture by promoting open communication, safety awareness campaigns, and recognition programs.
  • Compile reports, summaries and statistics on company metrics
  • Produce, review and update method statements, risk assessments and toolbox talks.
  • Participate in 3rd party audits for the purpose of company accreditation.


Requirements and experience:

  • Proven experience of at least 5 years in construction health and safety management, with a focus on building facades.
  • A Health & Safety qualification such as NEBOSH is essential.
  • NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Manual Handling Risk Assessment would be an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices in the construction industry.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to assess risks and implement effective risk mitigation strategies.
