Founded in 2012, Freeman Clarke is the UK’s largest and most experienced provider of fractional CIOs, CTOs and CISOs. It supports ambitious fast-growth mid-tier businesses. These are usually a mix of owner-led or externally backed enterprises. In 2018, it expanded into the US where it has doubled year-on-year growth since COVID.

Having closed 2023 with revenue in excess of £13 million, Freeman Clarke has now embarked on an exciting new phase of growth across both the UK and US and plans to triple turnover in the next five years.

To achieve this, it is looking for an entrepreneurially-minded executive to join its existing community as Regional Director and lead its team of exceptional CIOs and CTOs.


About our opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced professional with sound knowledge of the IT sector to further develop and lead a team of CIOs in the City of London region of the UK.

You will have both a passion for business and a proven track record of using information and communication technologies to create competitive advantage. You will be interested in both how the commercial landscape is evolving and how technology can be leveraged to improve efficiency and drive business excellence.

You will thrive when collaborating with others and recognise the benefits of teamwork. You will take responsibility for developing trusted relationships with existing clients, building new relationships with prospects within your regional business community and winning business for your team to achieve ambitious revenue growth targets.


We’re looking for someone who will:

  • existing and future clients better understand the benefits of a fractional CIO or CTO within their business
  • regional revenue growth by helping existing and future clients understand the rapidly evolving digital landscape and how technology works to catalyse, enable and accelerate commercial performance and growth
  • Freeman Clarke as the go-to provider of fractional CIOs, CTOs and CISOs, both regionally and nationally.
  • and nurture a valuable regional business network that accurately reflects the Freeman Clarke brand, fostering reputation, loyalty and referrals
  • and grow our regional team of CIOs and CTOs to deliver the best possible service to clients and be recognised as trusted advisors within their clients’ business ecosystems
  • continuous learning and development within your team in step with emerging technology innovation


About you

You will have significant experience of leading IT teams and may have operated at CIO / CTO level where you will have spent time influencing senior stakeholders. Equally, your background may lie in selling technology consulting services.

You might already have left corporate life to work independently with one or more clients to provide professional services within the IT and business leadership space. In whichever capacity, your overarching long-term goal will be to help businesses leverage digital technology to achieve efficiency and service excellence.

You will recognise the changing nature of business in the 2020s and have a natural interest in technology innovation. You will understand the general risks and opportunities facing modern organisations. You will identify with the role of trusted advisor and be excited by the prospect of helping Freeman Clarke realise its expansion objectives.


Your background and experience

We’re looking for someone with:

  • of working at CIO/CTO level or a track record of selling consulting services within the technology sector
  • passion for technology as an enabler of 21st Century business
  • entrepreneurial mindset and curiosity for the range of challenges facing business in the 2020s
  • interest in the rapidly evolving business technology landscape and how tech can be used to create value for ALL stakeholders within commercial settings
  • of leading digital transformation programmes to drive wider business transformation
  • awareness and experience of risk mitigation
  • clear interest in people and human motivation
  • relationship-building skills, ideally within a regional business network community
  • growth mindset and proactive attitude towards continuous learning and development
  • proven ability to deliver clear and concise written proposals and other documentation and facilitate meetings at board level
