Overview:

JAB Recruitment is working with our Renewables client, located in Bridge of Don (Aberdeen), to source a Mechanical Engineer. This is a contract position which will last for 3-months from July 2024.


As a mechanical engineer, you will contribute to all stages of project work from concept to delivery. The successful candidate will be involved in the engineering, design, manufacturing, testing and assembly of our client's novel subsea technology.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Populating requirement specifications for our products and technologies.
  • Interpret client, stakeholder, and project requirements.
  • Review / approve 2D and 3D drawings, spanning process and instrumentation diagrams, conceptual layouts, general assemblies, detail, and fabrication drawings.
  • Lead technical reviews and cover topics and criteria covering the entire product lifecycle from concept to delivery and onwards to operations and decommission.
  • Create engineering documentation including technical specifications, test procedures, part specifications, bill of materials etc.
  • Create / review calculation packages (i.e., water depth pressure, fastener torque, static / dynamic loading, seabed stability analysis and thermal management).
  • Ensuring our client's products withstand a subsea environment throughout its specified lifetime.
  • Peer review / approve technical documentation.
  • Engaging with a multi-discipline team including commercial, operations, electrical and electronic, software and systems expertise.
  • Ensure project quality requirements are specified and followed.
  • Company witness for critical testing and assembly phases.
  • Engaging with the end client, vendor, and external parties to ensure that project requirements are met.
  • Meeting the project schedule and identifying issues and support requirements early.
  • Attend regular project and department meetings.
  • Provide support during manufacture and operation to troubleshoot and deal with design alterations.
  • Integrate electrical and mechanical components to design a seamless, effective system.


Minimum Requirements:


Education:

  • A mechanical engineering background supported either by a degree / qualification or experience in the relevant field.


Experience/Specific Knowledge:

  • Practical engineering knowledge with respect to health and safety, assembly, and operations.
  • Willingness to travel for meetings and company witness.
  • Knowledge of cost-effective manufacturing practices.
  • Strong time management skills and an ability to coordinate and prioritise tasks.
  • Exhibit excellent people and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Work in a high-performance and challenging environment.
  • Passionate about the energy transition and paving the way for ground-breaking technology.
  • Self-starter, with creative thinking skills and critical analysis capabilities.
