As an integral part of the corporate communications team, you will be responsible for a wide range of projects and initiatives and will lead on a number of areas in both internal and external communications and supporting the production and content for our communications channels for the whole organisation.

You will need strong communications skills, the ability to write well and create content for a range of audiences and channels, as well as experience of working with the media.

We’re looking for enthusiastic and creative professionals with strong interpersonal skills, who will thrive in a busy environment and who are well organised, with excellent attention to detail and good proof-reading skills.

A positive ‘can do’ attitude is imperative as you’ll be working in a busy environment with multiple priorities and will need to respond quickly and professionally to a wide range of stakeholders.

Team-working is vital to achieving positive outcomes and you’ll be expected to work closely with colleagues in the department and across our services. You will be able to build positive relationships which will enable you to engage and influence staff and handle complex and sensitive communications issues.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service covers nearly 6,000 square miles, serving a population of over five million people across Yorkshire and the Humber and strives to ensure that patients receive the right response to their care needs as quickly as possible, wherever they live.

We employ more than 7,200 staff, who together with over 1,300 volunteers, enable us to provide a vital 24-hour, seven-days-a-week, emergency and urgent healthcare service. We are largely working from home, which is set to continue. However, there is a requirement to attend our headquarters in Wakefield on occasion and potentially other locations across the region.

As an integral part of the Corporate Communications Team, you will be responsible for a wide range of projects and initiatives and will support on a number of key areas including external communications, internal communications, media, digital and social media. This will include the creation of written content, tailored for different audiences and channels.

The Corporate Communications Officer role includes delivering internal and external communications plans and projects, developing creative and innovative approaches to communications, organising events and ensuring staff and other stakeholders are fully engaged in the work of the organisation. The role will also deal with media relations and you need to be able to respond to sensitive and complex communications issues.
