We are looking for a passionate and energetic individual to join our team as a Senior Residential Support Worker. Our children’s home in Wigan is a two-bed home for children with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties, our work is underpinned by a therapeutic parenting model which is guided by our in-house therapists.
Our Senior Residential Support Workers are key members of the team, providing high standards of child-centred support and care to our children/young people. Through a creative and caring approach, you will build good relationships with our children, supporting them to achieve their potential and explore new opportunities and interests. Participation in activities is a key task for the role, so energy and initiative is vital.
**Our Senior Residential Support Worker role attracts an annual salary of £21,352.50 plus sleep-in and on-call allowance. You will complete 10 sleep-in duties per month and 4 on call duties (please note if you are called in while on call an additional payment will be made in line with your hourly rate)**
Our Senior Residential Support Workers support with the following:
- Support the management with the day-to-day operations of the home.
- Assisting the management team with the supervisions of support workers
- Inducting new staff into the home
- Ensuring the highest standards of care in relation to the Children/Young People’s physical and emotional wellbeing to ensure that they achieve their expected outcomes in line with the child’s care plan.
- Work within the legal framework for Children's homes, ensuring safeguarding underpins practise.
- Writing and maintaining placement and risk management plans
- Supporting and encouraging educational engagement.
- Participate in training.
To ensure the young people are cared for in a consistent manner, a rota system is in place which includes sleeping in and on call duties. This provides the children with the much-needed security and nurture they have often missed through their childhood. Whilst you are on shift the home will become a comfortable space for you as day-to-day living is very similar to that of your own home. All home comforts including private sleeping in room and meals are provided.
