We have recently announced the creation of Pilgrim's Shared Services, a fourth stand-alone company, which will bring together some of the support functions of our current three businesses (Moy Park, excluding France and Netherlands, Pilgrim's UK & Pilgrim'sFood Masters). Its purpose is to deliver a high-quality shared service to those three businesses.
As the business grows, this shared service will broaden opportunities for career development as part of a far larger organisation. We will also continue our investment in technology to drive efficiencies and improved ways of working.
The Shared Services company includes a dedicated Continuous Improvement function, whose core responsibility is to drive positive business transformation across the business. Reporting to the Head of Direct Procurement, we are pleased to advise that we are nowrecruiting for a Senior Buyer - Ingredients or Packaging.
The Role
- A strategically focused role with responsibility for the management of purchasing across a range of categories within the Ingredients or packaging spend portfolio across the Group
- You will lead and act as a commercial representative working in a cross-functional environment, delivering against agreed challenging targets: driving efficiencies and ensuring best total cost of acquisition while minimising risk.
- Working with the Commodity Manager Ingredients and Packaging to ensure best value across spend, driving change and ensuring strategic roadmaps are delivered.
- You will be responsible for reporting your category areas, delivering synergies and savings across your spend area, ensuring supplies are sourced and maintained in a sustainable manner.
Job Responsibilities
- Deliver Cost reduction/control within defined categories of expenditure.
- Manage tendering and benchmarking processes (utilising e procurement) including contact negotiations.
- Develop and maintain department purchasing processes.
- Support sites on supplier issues when appropriate and identify root cause and recommend solutions for implementation
- Develop supplier improvement programmes.
What You'll Need
- At least 3 years' experience in a Procurement Department.
- Hold a driving licence and flexible to travel as required.
- Recent experience in managing a range of suppliers and categories.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Effective communication, influencing and teamwork skills.
- Proven cost savings across a range of categories.
- Proven project management and implementation skills
- Self motivated and driven to continously improve.
- Proficient in supplier benchmarking and tender process.
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office suite
