Starting at 8:30am and finishing at 3:30pm, this role is for a full time (term time only) Teaching Assistant role in:

- **Primary SEN**:

- Working with 6 - 11 year olds with special educational needs.

The role is a long term role, treated permanently in an ongoing contract.

About the role:
SEN classes with a range of complex needs, some children are non-verbal but communicating through gesture and their behaviour so staff need to be able to interpret what they see as communication and work out how to solve.

Some children will require specific training that will be given, including medical, mobility, feeding and personal care (EYFS; nappies, general; accidents) - if required, you will be trained to the individual needs.

Learning looks like playing and engaging in activities set out indoors and outdoors, there will be some 1:1 learning set out on the plan to achieve with children whilst they engage in their play.

Staff need to be able to look at what it is aimed for the children to learn and use their initiative to be able to support the children to engage in this through their play.

Monday to Friday, Term Time only, 8:30 - 3:30, £69.25pd, £10.65ph. Working inset days are paid.

Good initiative - can see when children are putting things in their mouth, risk assess the environment constantly, remove items that are dangerous,

Be animated and not afraid to get stuck in and involved in being able to sing songs, model playing with different toys, and use initiative to support children transitioning around from place to place i.e. can you follow my leader, use theme songs as motivators, use animated language like a CBeebies presenter.

Be resilient - along with the joys of working with children, there will be challenges with behaviour. Patience, understanding and following the behaviour policies are key to developing behaviour management skills.

Be able to read a plan and interpret the learning and liaise closely with the class teacher. Supply reflective feedback about the children worked with at the end of the day to the teacher.

**Ideal experience**:
Working with children, SEN experience, nursery experience for early years roles and care experience for PMLD roles. Other experiences are of interest so please apply.
