Overview:
The role of Press and Campaigns Officer is focused on overseeing TalkTalk’s press office and helping to execute corporate campaigns.

You will act as the first point of contact for media enquiries and decide on next steps in terms of response. You will cultivate relationships with journalists, draft press materials and engage with stakeholders of all levels across the business (i.e. customer services, brand, product, CEO, etc) to get them signed off. An important part of the role also involves looking after our bank of key messages and leading on daily media monitoring updates.

We are also keen for you to develop other skills and interests. That will involve working with different parts of the business to mine for stories and drive campaigns forward. You will lead on our Environment campaigns, and help execute other corporate comms campaigns, such as Women in Tech, Internet Insights and D&I and Talent.

You will also help to create content for our social media channels and maintain our corporate website.

**Responsibilities**:

- Being the main point of contact for press office enquiries, advising on next steps, and then gathering material and insight to craft the responses.
- This will involve liaising with different parts of the business to gather information and distil into clear, concise and accurate statements.
- Working collaboratively with internal teams (e.g. customer services, technology, product and online teams) to draft responses in a timely manner.
- Write and edit press and social materials ranging from media alerts to snappy copy.
- You will lead on Environment campaigning. And help the Senior Press and Communications Manager deliver a variety of other campaigns from Women in Tech to Data stories.
- Manage our bank of key messages and lead on daily media monitoring updates. Maintain the corporate website, and support on LinkedIn and Twitter.
- Cultivate relationships with influential telecoms journalists.
- Help spot newsjacking opportunities.

Skills and requirements:

- Experience dealing with reactive media enquiries or working as a press officer.
- Strong written communication skills and aptitude for creating engaging messaging for a variety of internal external stakeholders.
- Self-starter, who is happy to drive their own workflow. Interest in the digital world and its endless possibilities.
- Excellent organisation skills and an ability to manage day-to-day activities and plan ahead.
- Resilience and the ability to work calmly under pressure - TalkTalk is a fast paced environment.
- Good interpersonal skills i.e. works well with others, has a clear communication style and demonstrates flexibility in thinking.
- Previous experience working on social media activity.
- Experience working in a PR or comms agency is highly desirable.
- An interest in telecoms, tech and communications.

Other information:

- Role split: 50% press office / 40% campaigns / 10% social
- This is a rough guide and may adjust between activities at specific times.
- A small amount of out of hours work is required - around 2 hours every month
