Administrator

Put simply, we set the standards by which everything is measured. In doing so, the National Physical Laboratory is helping to combat issues on a global scale such as climate change, curing diseases and the development of cutting-edge communications technology. In what is an exciting period of change, our Executive team needs the highest quality support to allow them to deliver our ambitions.
As the leaders of our business, our Executive have many demands on their time. As the Administrator you will primarily support the Executive Assistant to the Deputy CEO (DCEO) and some of the wider Executive EA team, gaining a thorough understanding of Executive operations and their needs. You will deliver the kind of high quality personal and administrative assistance that allows them to perform at their best.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Co-ordinate and organise logistics for meetings, briefings and events for the DCEO team, including room requirements, catering, technical equipment, meeting guests and organising their security passes with reception.
- Undertake administrative duties for the Executive Office: processing expenses, purchase orders, travel bookings and updating organisation charts.
- Ensuring activities are completed efficiently, accurately and in line with company processes and procedures.
- Collation, production and distribution of data, information and reports to the appropriate individuals and departments when required.
- Update and maintain records, systems and databases to ensure that the information is accurate and up to date.
- Respond to queries in a professional and timely manner. Additional admin duties will involve assisting with event organisation, helping to onboard new starters and liaising on their background security checks.
- You are a highly competent Administrator, with experience of handling multiple stakeholders.
- Always positive and unquestionably organised, you are both proactive and reactive, able to juggle often conflicting priorities diplomatically.
- Exceptional Microsoft Office skills are essential, as is the ability to forge good relationships at all levels.
Beyond that, we are looking for someone who will thrive in an environment like ours. At NPL, we learn from each other, respect each other and work together to do better. For ourselves and for our customers. And whilst we are always looking to stretch beyond what we know, we don’t make things more complicated when there is no need.
**We actively recruit citizens of all backgrounds, but the nature of our work in specific departments means that nationality, residency and security requirements can be more tightly defined than others. You will be asked about this throughout the recruitment process. To work at NPL, you will need to obtain BPSS security clearance.**
