The School of Health Sciences is seeking a passionate and forward-thinking educator to join our pioneering dental education team. As part of our commitment to the continued development of our Dental Hygiene and Therapy programme, we are seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer (depending on experience) to provide academic leadership, programme development, and an excellent student learning experience. This is a full time and permanent role.

This is an exceptional opportunity to shape the future of dental hygiene and therapy education in Wales. You will play a central role in delivering innovative teaching, developing clinical placement opportunities with partners including Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board and Health Education and Improvement Wales, and ensuring our programmes remain aligned with General Dental Council standards. There will also be opportunities to expand the programmes offered across the dental field [including the University’s aspiration to establish a School for Dental Surgery].

We are looking for an enthusiastic academic and practitioner who is:

- Registered with the GDC and experienced in UK dental hygiene/therapy practice
- Skilled in higher education teaching and curriculum development
- Committed to inspiring and supporting the next generation of oral health professionals
- Excited to collaborate with colleagues, professional bodies, and external stakeholders

The role is based on campus at Bangor, with flexibility to work remotely within the UK as part of our Dynamic Working framework.

The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable.

School of Health Sciences

The School of Health Sciences is the focus for the dental, nursing, midwifery, radiography, physiotherapy and public health programmes. Our wider portfolio of programmes a range of professional master’s degrees related to practice, health and social care, as well as a plethora of post-graduate programmes to support registrants in their continued professional development. We work in close collaboration with the North Wales Medical School and the School of Pharmacy to continue to develop our approach to interprofessional education and research.

Purpose of the Job
- To teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including supervision of students and projects.
- To develop teaching materials or methodologies, for example course design or assessment and being module coordinator or contributing to module co-ordination.
- To provide pastoral and academic support to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- To ensure academic scholarship, leading national standards (for Senior Lecturer level) substantial evidence of quality and an emerging international reputation.
- To facilitate the development of new programmes in dentistry and across the school
- To undertake School and College leadership roles and other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Head of School of Health Sciences.
