Overview Bangor University seeks a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Pharmacy Practice/Clinical Pharmacy as part of the newly formed North Wales Medical School. The role will contribute to the development of our MPharm degree programme set to launch September 2025. The post is advertised on either a Teaching‑focussed (T&S) or Research‑focussed (T&R) route. Depending on experience and potential the successful applicant may be appointed as Lecturer or Senior Lecturer. The successful candidate will be registered with the GPhC and have experience in UK pharmacy practice, either as a practising pharmacist or through extensive academic experience. Purpose of the Job Teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including project supervision. Develop teaching materials, course design, assessment, and contribute to module coordination. Provide pastoral and academic support to students. Conduct research (T&R route) or academic scholarship (T&S route) of national standard, evidencing research output for Senior Lecturer appointments. Undertake leadership roles and other duties as directed by the Head of School. Main Duties and Responsibilities Teaching duties: Support innovative teaching and assessment practice for the MPharm programme. Develop and deliver experiential placements with health partners. Plan, prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials and simulation activities. Contribute to teaching of other programmes (BSc, Masters, PhD, CPD). Participate in academic quality assurance and curriculum review processes. Champion learning technologies for T&S route, including VLE and other tools. Grade 9 (Senior Lecturer) teaching responsibilities (in addition to the above): Lead in curriculum development and delivery. Develop inter‑disciplinary teaching collaborations, including IPE. Research duties (T&R route): Publish and disseminate research, leading authorship in peer‑reviewed journals and related outputs. Develop and manage research projects and teams. Secure research income from reputable funding bodies. Grade 9 (Senior Lecturer) research responsibilities (in addition to the above): Lead initiatives to strengthen the School’s research culture. Administrative and wider contribution duties: Contribute to programme management, governance and policy at School and College level. Engage in student recruitment, retention and experience initiatives. Support equality, diversity, Athena SWAN, Welsh language and marketing activities. Mentor junior staff. Comply with further duties as directed. Other Duties and Responsibilities Participate in performance review activities. Adhere to equality policies and staff welfare standards. Ensure health, safety and wellbeing responsibilities are met. Comply with legal and financial policy requirements. Person Specification Qualifications / Training Essential: Registered pharmacist with GPhC and expertise in a relevant practice specialism. Postgraduate degree (or equivalent) or nearing completion. To be appointed at Grade 8 or 9: Minimum 3 years teaching experience for HEA Fellowship conversion within 3 years or a PGCertHE, or recognized by HEA/Advance HE as a Fellow/Senior Fellow. Desirable: Member or Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. PhD level education or equivalent. Experience in Independent Prescribing qualification teaching. Experience / Knowledge Essential: Experience in UK pharmacy practice, either through practice or extensive academia. For T&S route: effective teaching capability. For T&R route: evidence of research output in refereed publications. Additional requirements for Grade 8: For T&S: module development experience, project supervision, and proven teaching excellence. For T&R: project management skills, conference presentation, and external funding success. Additional requirements for Grade 9: For T&S: leadership of quality courses, departmental initiatives, and academic quality assurance. For T&R: lead authorship, research group management, and proposal development. Desirable: Experience in innovative undergraduate MPharm curriculum design aligned with GPhC IETP standards. Participation in academic quality assurance activities. Skills / Abilities Essential: Excellent verbal and written communication; IT skills required (VLE, learning technologies). Clear communication in English to diverse audiences. Teamworking and initiative within own remit. Work prioritisation and deadline management. Appreciation of bilingual health care context in North Wales. Desirable: Ability to communicate in Welsh preferable; learning opportunities available.
