**Main Purpose**

Ensure content is fit for purpose, compliant and easily understandable by its audiences. Contribute to a marketing centre of excellence with a strong understanding of and focus on digital culture and capability.

Drive and deliver excellence in marketing communications by providing specialist copywriting
services and advice within the Marketing Department and around the organisation in line with
brand guidelines, technical requirements, team processes, internal policies, agreed standards, legislation and regulation. Produce, update, review and approve quality, compelling, compliant and creative marketing content across all channels, products and customergroups.

A champion of the importance of words in successful marketing, the Senior Marketing Copywriter works with colleagues to demonstrate the value of good writing to meet customer needs and contribute to the growth and development of the organisation.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Creates, reviews and approves marketing content that is accurate, consistent, compelling,
creative and compliant
- Ensures content is on-brand and consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice; is an
exemplar of best practices in grammar, language and editorial guidelines
- Shares professional skills and technical knowledge within the team and the wider
department
- Provides advice, support and constructive challenge when needed on a brief and the best
way to meet it
Works with the rest of the Marketing Communications team to review, implement and
suggest any changes to guidelines for how the brand is expressed in writing
- Uses and inputs into reviews of agreed processes, systems and SLAs for receiving briefs,
managing reviews and securing approvals
- Ensures all work is accurately version controlled and captured within the agreed facility for
storing and managing all marketing communications content and assets
- Ensures all work is fit for purpose including in-situ
- Suggests when using external agencies and contractors could add value and manages the
relationships with them as required
- Works with the Marketing Operations team to monitor customer experience and feedback;
identifies and implements agreed changes resulting from insight and analytics
- Tracks and captures SLAs, KPIs and metrics for their work
- Designs and delivers testing as needed
- Ensures there is continuous improvement in quality and cost control for all their activities
- Engages with colleagues around the business to help identify business requirements for
copywriting delivery and advice
- Uses agreed tools, systems and techniques and suggests improvements to meet business
needs and deliver good customer outcomes
- Leads on defined activity for the Copywriting team as required
- Mentors and coaches the Marketing Copywriters and wider team to upskill and knowledge
share
- Deputises for the Marketing Copywriter Manager as required
- Ensures project timelines are realistic and achieved for their areas of work
- Keeps up to date and complies with all relevant systems, legislation, regulation and policies
- Adheres to the company risk management policy and procedures, including reporting of
incidents or breaches
- Applies and promotes Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) culture and principles, the Clear
English Standard, and with the organisation’s behaviours and values
- Adheres to the company diversity and inclusion policy

**Skill/ Experience**

**Essential**
- Educated to A level or equivalent
- Relevant professional qualifications/training e.g. CIM, IDM
- Relevant technical qualifications/training e.g. PMI, CII
- Experience of writing technical and promotional content
- Experience of quality control of copy content
- Experience of internal stakeholder engagement
- Experience of supplier relationship management
- Good knowledge of current best practice in promotional and
technical customer communications
- Good knowledge of writing for offline and digital channels
- Experience of compliance with regulatory, brand and editorial
guidelines
- Demonstrable experience of briefing, review and approval processes
and systems
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
- Recent track record in creating and reviewing impactful B2B and B2C
copy
- Experience in working in a project environment
- A passion for brand and house style
- Proven ability to create compelling and creative pensions and
occupational health content for multiple audiences across all
channels

**Desirable**
- Degree or equivalent experience
- Experience of writing for multiple products / services
- Experience of reviewing and approving copy
- Experience of marketing communications for UK financial services
- Experience of working in a regulated environment
- Good understanding of the organisation’s products and markets
- Good knowledge of pension and occupational health systems
- Experience of investment communications
- Understanding and experience of using the Clear English Standard
- Experience of coaching or mentoring colleagues
