**Job description**

We have the opportunity to hire an adaptable and highly motivated Service Advisor to enhance our Practice workforce and complement our reception team. You will be a team player experienced in customer service including handling phone calls, being able to multitask in high pressured situations and will be flexible.

To facilitate the delivery of quality primary care services to patients; to support the doctors in their daily work, co-operate with other members of the primary care team in their specific duties and maintain good communications always.

**CORE DUTIES**
- Answer telephone promptly, diverting calls, taking messages and answering enquiries as appropriate. Follow up messages to their conclusion, leaving adequate information for other staff regarding unsolved or urgent problems.
- Receive patients and visitors. Maintain smooth flow of patients to surgeries and clinics. Make sure that patients are not overlooked this means watching the waiting room areas and flow of patients.
- Make patient appointments for GPs, nurses and other clinics, according to current schedules and procedures.
- Handle requests for repeat prescriptions, prepare these for doctors to approve, sign and re-authorise.
- Take requests for home visits, prepare records and prescriptions, allocate to doctors, contact duty doctor with any late calls and enter re-visits on SystmOne.
- Prepare paperwork and any records required for surgeries according to current needs.
- Scan and attach patient letters to computer records.
- File records, letters and reports accurately, following action indicated.
- Enter electronic data as appropriate to general and specific duties.
- Tidy incoming records to facilitate medical summarising and medical report work.
- Prepare GP rooms for surgeries.
- Tidy and air waiting room, consulting and examination rooms after each session.
- Record petty cash used and give receipts for cash payments taken.
- Put into operation new procedures as discussed at team meetings.
- Co-operate with other team members in their specific duties, maintaining good communication at all times.
- Attend and participate in monthly educational afternoons, making rota adjustments as necessary.
- Keep office and reception areas tidy, follow-up any outstanding tasks that become apparent.
- Make tea and coffee as required.
- Other duties as may become necessary as the practice changes.

**Qualifications and experience required: (Please indicate on CV)**:

- **Essential**_
- 3 or more GCSEs grades A* to C or equivalent (including maths and English)
- Experience Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office especially Word and Excel
- Telephony experience required
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Able to communicate across all levels in a positive and courteous manner
- Experience of working in a customer facing environment
- Experience of working well as part of a team and unsupervised
- Experience of working with confidential information
- Ability to work under pressure including dealing with difficult situations
- Ability and confidence to use own initiative
- Ability to prioritise effectively
- Dependable, punctual and have a willingness to work flexibly

- Previous experience of using SystmOne
- Previous experience of working in the NHS

The working pattern is alternating early/late shifts to cover 5 days a week, Monday to Friday (7.30am starts on a early shift, 6.30pm finish on a late shift).

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: £10.42 per hour

Expected hours: 25 per week
