About the role
What you need to know:
The Head of Intermediary Sales role is field-based and reports to the Managing Director, Individual Protection.
Overview of Role:
The Head of Intermediary Sales is responsible for the leadership and management of all field based (protection specialist) and telephone based (protection consultant) sales teams within AIG.
It is a key external facing role, representing AIG Life within the wider Protection market, as well as a role that represents sales internally within the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- To deliver the overall Intermediary Sales APE target for the Individual Protection business.- To create, and secure approval to, a clear, robust and well socialised intermediary sales strategy, aligned to the overall Individual Protection business strategy.- Working closely with the sales management team, to produce and deliver an annual intermediary sales plan, with clear and robust activity plans for all identified market segments, including growing existing distribution and unlocking new distribution opportunities.- In addition to APE, to be accountable for the quality and profitability of Intermediary Sales, working closely with the Head of DQM and other relevant internal stakeholders.- To be the external representative and spokesperson for Intermediary Sales, driving strong levels of engagement and recognition for AIG Life within the wider Protection market, supporting external distributor relationships at CEO / director level where required.- To lead the field sales and telephone sales teams, including coaching, development of and motivation of team members, and ensuring that the team meet all internal and external governance and compliance requirements.- To be accountable for the overall training and competency of the Intermediary Sales Team and ensure the sales performance team have robust measures in place to deliver training, monitor performance and ensure all of the team are operating compliantly and within regulatory requirements.- To manage marketing agreements and associated budgets for strategic accounts. To oversee the review and market assessment of all packages and budgets to ensure there is a clear and robust framework and that regulatory and compliance requirements are monitored and met.- To work collaboratively with the wider sales leadership team and wider AIG life leadership team, representing Intermediary Sales at relevant internal meetings, providing transparency and clarity around sales activity and results.- To deputise for the Managing Director, Individual Protection, as and when required.
What we’re looking for
Principle skills:
- Experience working at CEO/ director level both internally and externally at distributor events and meetings.- Previous experience of working with strategic/national accounts in the financial services marketplace, particularly in an intermediated environment.- A self-starter with the insight to develop and deliver strategic goals and business plans.- A proven track record of internal and external relationship building and influencing and capable of adapting presenting style depending on audience.- Deep understanding of the financial services marketplace including distribution, regulation and competitors.- Demonstrable track record of leading sales teams in a financial services environment, preferably in an intermediated sales environment- Previous experience in leading, coaching and supporting sales managers.- Good negotiation skills both with customers and with internal stakeholders.- Numerate and articulate and displays strong relationship and people mana
