**Mission**

We have an exciting opportunity to join OakNorth Bank as a Payment Screening Operations Team Leader This is a full-time, permanent, office-based position in Manchester reporting to our Cash & Treasury Operations Manager.

**What will you be doing as a Payment Screening Operations Team Leader?**
- Assess and advise on the design of payment screening systems and processes
- Support design and implementation of rules to mitigate identified sanctions alerts
- Refine and optimise system configuration to reduce false positives
- During initial soft launch of business current accounts, independently completedetailed analysis and investigation of transactions referred for possible sanctions alerts and support Cash & Treasury Operations Manager in designing and documenting standard operating procedures and controls for 1st line Payments Screening including:

- Reviewing transaction sanction alerts and assessing if permissible or requiring investigation
- Conducting thorough investigations of all system-generated sanction alerts
- Owning individual alert cases and using case management tools in completing alert investigations within required timescales
- Collaborating with external correspondent banks to secure required data to be able to complete investigations of sanctions alerts
- Communicating with customers where necessary to discount potential true matches
- Obtaining required evidence for investigations to ensure effective record keeping
- Checking filter logs and completing sanctions screening lists maintenance
- Working with Transaction Monitoring and Fraud Operations teams as required
- Liaising with 2nd line MLRO/Compliance team where necessary to gain advice on cases, to ensure the right outcome is delivered
- For external launch and the expected increase of business current accounts, hire and manage Payment Screening Operations Analysts in line with resource requirements
- Manage 1st line Payment Screening Operations Analysts team in completing processes listed above, and continually provide coaching and support to increase efficiency and knowledge of team
- Deliver meaningful data analysis and insights to drive process improvements
- Complete overview and oversight of the sanctions hit volumes to ensure adequate resource planning to deal with workflow peaks and troughs

What do you need to excel in this role?
- Knowledge of the UK anti-money laundering and financial crime regulatory framework
- Experience in a sanctions/anti-financial crime related role
- Banking Experience within Payments having SWIFT knowledge
- Experience of leading at least a small team within financial services
- Knowledge of using, calibrating and optimising fraud detection tools
- Experience of asking open questions to customers to identify required information
- A keen eye for detail, allowing you to identify potential risks to the bank and our customers
- Very self-motivated, with a positive mind-set, having strong time-management skills
