Managing ‘nurse of the day’ diary.
- Rescheduling patient’s appointments.
- Office organisation and admin support for the diabetes specialist nurses.
- Co-ordinating meetings for nurses and wider MDT.
- Support inpatient diabetes team with delivery of diabetes technology (e.g. glucose monitors) to inpatients
- Support diabetes technician/administration with ordering and sending tech supplies
- Supporting organisation of education and technology events
- Supporting data collection for local and national audit/quality improvement
- Preparation of packs for diabetes specialist nurse ward education
- Working with clinicians to move patients on to and along appropriate clinical pathway, including patient-initiated follow-up (PIFU)

- You will be responsible for establishing patient concerns and providing support by problem-solving, signposting or booking patients into clinics.
- Proactively identify urgent patient issues and escalating to duty clinician. Supporting inpatient diabetes team with administrative tasks and initiation of diabetes technology including supporting patient education, ordering of equipment and downloading devices into electronic patient record
- Working with clinical team to navigate patients on to and through the correct clinical pathways including PIFU
- Clinical data entry into electronic patient record and diabetes management software
- Audit and quality improvement data collection and entry to support local and national projects Co-ordination and booking of appointments for patients
- Ordering of diabetes technology supplies
- Work collaboratively with medical secretaries, clinical nurse specialists and other departments within the Trust to ensure appropriate management of patient.
- To manage the clinical workload effectively, ensuring that patients are prioritised where needed.
- To contribute positively towards the delivery of a cost effective service, ensuring supplies appropriately. Whilst also ensuring that equipment is well maintained with staff understanding the use of such equipment.
- To maintain confidentiality with regard to personal information pertaining to staff.
- To attend and contribute to departmental meetings as required.
- To recognise your role in supporting the clinical team, undertaking clinical responsibilities under the direction of the senior nurses within the team.
- To ensure that practice is in line with departmental policies and protocols within the clinical area.
