**THE ROLE**
- We have an exciting role for a portfolio manager to join the innovation team at SGN.
- The portfolio manager will take ownership of the front end of the innovation program at SGN, ensuring we are focused on strategic priority areas, capitalising on opportunities and macro trends.
- They will build a network internally and externally, ensuring we are connected to the most relevant innovations for our strategic need or the most promising commercial innovations.

**Key responsibilities will include;**
- Own the front end of the innovation program: strategic priority setting, macro trend tracking, scouting new innovations, creating the business case for action
- Stakeholder management & engagement - maintaining a strong network internally and externally
- Work with commercial colleagues on new ventures, promising IP developments and innovation projects

**WHAT YOU’LL BRING**
- Significant and successful innovation experience, solid understanding of innovation strategy and varying approaches.
- Must be able to understand complex technologies or opportunities and translate those to a non-technical audience in compelling way.
- You will need to be a strong relationship builder and networker. Have a keen interest in technology and the energy / renewables sector.
- You will have strong management and leadership experience with a proven ability to develop people and teams.
- You will need to be an excellent communicator able to engage at all levels and be a confident presenter.

**Essential;**
- Significant innovation experience - either in an innovation manager role or strategy role previously
- Proven track record forming strong professional relationships and networks
- Strategic thinker
- Commercial acumen
- Excellent stakeholder management skills
- Strong communication skills

**Desirable;**
- Project management experience
- Knowledge of energy or wider utilities sector
- Experience working in regulated industry
